Hasn't the time come to put away the hate that is thriving here between believers and nonbelievers? Let's no longer speak of each other with such juvenile contempt and juvenile anger. As an atheist, as this 71-year-old professional theatre artist has been since age 9, I promise to move toward that goal myself. If you are an adult, and you have put away childish things, you will join in. Everything has been said and we are merely repeating it again and again and again. Civilization, folks. It's a good thing.

Certainly. But you can hardly expect everyone to shape up based on the eternal wisdom of a Yahoo! Answers question. I don't know if "juvenile" is the right word; for the "pre-" part of "prejudice", some experience is required to corrupt judgment. No child is born with prejudice.

I'm a follower of God and not a sinful man that chooses to live an unrigheous live over a righteous life.

2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

I don't share God's word in anger or hate. But because of satan, the unbeliever hears it as such, because they beleive satan's lies.

Sixty-eight years is a long time to fight a battle against an enemy you never understood. How many have fallen by your sword? Now that you grow weary you suppose all will settle into peacefulness and calm, and all will be well with your soul. The love of Christ does not grow weary, my friend. The end is not yet here. He loves you as on the day you were conceived and holds out to you still his offer of salvation.

I don't hate anybody. I don't think I could if I tried.

The contempt and anger, I'm sure, are never truly hateful on either side - just expressions of momentary annoyance. Regardless, you're right, we should watch what we say. Instead of making trite remarks all the time, we should explain our views as calmly as possible.

AMEN!
CiaoBella, by the way, is uninformed.
Christianity is a THEISM. Atheists, by definition, are just NOT theists. Those aren't polar opposites. Besides, the call is to ALL -theists (monotheists, tritheists, and atheists alike).
Jesus said don't judge, don't condemn and love those who don't agree with you (aka your enemies). So, Christians should do just that.
And Atheists...y'all should do whatever it is that makes good rational sense...which, I would think, is to speak logically and stop pissing people off.

I agree completely. Surely we all have more in common with eachother than we often appreciate. I come on Yahoo Answers to learn & grow. I welcome comments, questions & debate from people of all faiths/religions/atheism etc.
Healthy debate is good. Hate & disrespect doesnt help any of us.
A christian woman told me this morning (an added comment on her question about forgiveness) that she most respected people who were also christians. I was shocked. Please lets all respect eachother whatever we do or dont believe in. If you cant even respect someone before you've even read their comment, it actually says more about you than it ever will about the other.

Best wishes & peace.

Fine.

A deaf man, walking along a railroad track. Train approaching at high speed from behind him. I can push him off the track and save him (without endangering myself). But I leave him on his own.

You O.K. with that if you are the son of the deaf man?

part of the problem is that the wrong ideas have been stressed, such as belief in the supernatural and the words in a book written by men and revised umpty number of times, so many as to be indistinguishable from the original intentions. What is truly spiritual is how we treat each other. That's our real relgion, no matter what we say it is.

I harbor no hate for you or anyone. Civilization is a very good thing. Are you sure that you aren't sometimes confusing hatred with passionate discussion?
