I was a Drill Sergeant at Fort Benning for over three years rarely did any one ever "fail" Events that seemed to give soldiers the most trouble was qualifying with your M-16 the APFT (army physical fitness test) and some of the longer road marches. Soldiers that did not meet the standards were re-trained and tested again most of the time giving as many tests as needed, or held over past graduation especially for the APFT until they passed. Re-Cycles were almost always used for soldiers that got hurt or had discipline problems. Motivated soldiers with a good never quit attitude NEVER failed. Put your faith in your Drill Sergeant and the system and keep a good attitude.

I used to work at the Marine Corps bootcamp -- MCRD San Diego. Failure was generally not an option. You'd have to be just about rock stupid to fail. Recycled, remediated and put back a training cycle or two, but almost never kicked out. I once kept a guy in the Medical Rehab. Platoon for a little over a year. He kept breaking bones. Each time we got him healed and back into training, his body would breakdown again, somewhere else. Eventually, I did give him the boot.

They recycle you. That means you do it over. I am not sure how many chances you get, I am sure it all depends on the individual, I am sure they will pull the plug rather quickly if your too "ate up" but I know when I was in Basic Training, we were threatened with "recycling" all the time. I did not want to be recycled...it was bad enough the first time!

You go home... When I was in Boot Camp in the Navy in 1982 and we started with 88 Men in the company and Graduated 67. We referred to these guys as rocking out...Some were recycled but we called it being set back.

In CG boot camp, if you fail a specific week of training, you have to repeat it till you pass. The only way to get out of boot camp is a family emergency or if drugs are found in your system.

well for one depends on what you failed....you either have to be completely out of shape which then they probably they wouldn't have taken you in...but generally they roll you back a cycle to take over what you failed...if that fails then eventually you are given the boot.

Based on the severity you can either get held back (recycled) or discharged.

You can be recycled, but only so many times. Then you get shown the hatch.

Go Go Girls correct--you recycle to (i forget the name) "special' TRAINING OR SOMETHING.

it was SAD to see the "specials" come by in Basic at ft benning 1968. They would stop our march and let them go past us. (to show us i presume now.) You could tell- Yes you could tell, many of these guys were mongoloid.
Welcome to the army.

Then you are the biggest shitbag imaginable. If you recycle you have to REALLY suck. If you straight fail than you have to be damn near retarded. You wont recycle unless you get hurt. Trust me, I knew some total worthless assholes that still got pushed through to graduation despite their blatant failures.
