im not talking about consent. Im asking you why you accept a homosexual who says he was born this way, but not a pedophile who says the same thing.

Where exactly in the passage you have quoted does it say "homosexuals"? By no means can anyone prove that the moral of the Sodom & Gomorrah fable is to hate homosexuals OR their lifestyle. And since when do you follow the Old Testament in Islam, dear? Why is it that people quote the OT when it serves them but claim they believe the NT? OR the Qu'ran for that matter.

They were certainly born "that" way. And whoever said pedophiles are pedophiles from the day they are born? As for pedophiles, they aren't "born that way" it is a more a psychological disorder, a pathology. Pedophiles can claim what ever they want, but that doesn't make it so. It has never been proven by any type of science that Pedophilia is caused by genetics, that they are born that way. You are comparing the incomparable. Like apples and furniture, (I didn't want to use the obvious because they do have something in common, where as this comparison doesn't)

will people see the question how the guy intended it? he's not saying that gays are as bad as pedophiles, he's asking why one is considered something you are born with, and one is not, when both affect someones sex life! its like asking are people born with s&m tendancies, or a foot fetish, and comparing this to being "born" with such sexual desires - he just chose an incredibly emotive and sensitive subject to compare it with.

i believe that both are a mixture of genetics and environmental causes. No happy man with a balanced life and a good upbringing would feel the need to dominate and rape children... but he probably had some mental disorder in his brain as well.
a homosexual probably has been influenced by friends, family, media, life style etc, but probably had some genes that indicated which sex he was attracted to

Neither gay nor straight equal evil but they can both end up doing awful things equally. It's all a bit of nature and nurture that makes people who they are. But pedophiles harm children. These guys can be both gay or straight so I don't think it matters when it comes to sexual preference. I think pedophiles are born with the genes that make them prefer children but then somehow along the way, it is encouraged through their raising. Maybe they had pedophiles bothering them and they followed suite, who knows.

You don't have to accept anything. If you are gay, you are gay. Nobody who does not have first hand knowledge can say anything. This is usually why people ask and are baffled by things. Because no amount of explaination can make anyone truly accept anything they have not, nor can ever know for certain. Just like how christians and atheists go at each other on this forum. Neither one of them can make the other see their point of view because until one has experience with something, the other cannot be sure that they are the right one...

Actually, pedophiles aren't born that way...However, sexual orientation, while there is some evidence to say genetic, there is also evidence to show that it isn't. However, before you start doing the Xian dance of Victory around the burning stake, there is alot of evidence to show that sexual orientation *is* something decided very young in life, if not in the womb, then shortly afterwords...Sexual orientation behaviors begin appearing in children long before the onset of puberty.

Pedophiles only begin showing their behavior post puberty, and they still have a sexual orientation, indicating that orientation is more of a biological decision than a personal choice, but that pedophilia is in fact a sexual perversion of a post-pubescent individual.

Or, Homosexuals are made by Biology, Pedophiles are not.

You shouldn't accept either behavior. Love the sinner, hate the sin. In fact both are deadly sins against the flesh. When the Blessed mother appeared to the children in Fatima, she told them that more people go to hell due to sins of the flesh than for any other. It's a hard reality that most people hate to hear and end up getting very upset and start to make all kinds of justifications for what "their heart truly desires."

Two ways to approach this question:

1) If you feel that nobody is "born" gay, but that one simply "chooses" to be gay ... then I ask you, did you "choose" to be straight? Was there are time in your life when you were equally attracted to boys? Could you now simply "choose" to be attracted to males?

2) If there was evidence (which I don't believe exists) that both homosexuality and pedophilia were as genetic as heterosexuality, so what? We disallow certain behaviors because they are harmful to others ... acting on homosexual or heterosexual instincts does not hurt anyone ... acting on pedophilic instincts does. *That* makes all the difference in the world.
