It has been said throughout history by just a small few, "That Duty is Greater the God.".
Can you tell me how this can possibly be true?

Tiktaalik, being an Atheist has allowed you to see a truth which is rarely understood by most theist.
God is free of ego and considers the duty that is preformed greater than himself. This is a great insight, for a person that says they have no faith in God, you have spoken well.
Man continuosly fights the duty problem
because of ego. (Do i do my duty to family or god.) Man has an ego and God has none, so the task is easy for God, the task is difficult for man. This is the task that man must face, and as long as the ego remains the task is difficult. This is the challenge for man.
This is why it is said, "Duty is greater than God"

"greater THAN"?

It's easy for me to see how it can be true, but I'm an atheist. As an outsider, I would guess that maybe they mean that God would understand and take the motives of duty into consideration. For example, as a child you can disobey your parents if you have a really good reason - they will understand. Alternatively, If they're saying that duty supercedes God in a way that he would never approve of, then they are crossing a line into audaciously questioning God's rules where they disagree, or are bound by duty. Maybe it's a way to feel better about following an order that required them to break a rule or hurt their conscience.

How can it be true?

Following God is easy. You do as asked, you get your reward.

Doing your DUTY however is NOT easy. You may have to do things you HATE in order to do what is RIGHT. Doing your duty is a manifestation of your personal honor as a human being. It is WHO YOU ARE.

When you fail your duty, you fail to do what God intended for you. Thus you fail both yourself AND God.

And thats why duty is the most important.

The Bible answers this question point blank:

Ecclesiastes 12:13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Doing your (God given) 'duty' is showing (demonstrating) your love for God!
Duty (per se) is not superior to God.

I've never heard that saying.
It could be rationalized to mean that man must do the things to support his family first rather than worship one that may command a higher calling.

There is nothing in this current or the past history of this world that would make that statement true in any possible way.... Also only Satan would be the only one that has anything to gain from such a false statement being made true but such a few idiots.................................................
