Yes, 10 months is an appropriate time for a "first heat." You should look into having her spayed as soon as she finishes this heat. You can lessen her chances of getting many types of ovarian and mammary cancers later in life if you get that done before she turns 2 years old. You won't have to worry about unwanted puppies, and it also keeps you from having to clean up after this again!

Yes, she can go into heat this young. Not only can she go into heat, but she can get pregnant. So make sure that you keep her away from male dogs. Keep an eye on her even when she goes potty if she goes outside. Once she stops bleeding she will then be willing to accept a male. The cycle usually last about 21 days. If you are not planning on breeding her, call your vet when she's finished and make an appt to have her spayed. Tell them when she finished her cycle and they will know how long to wait before they do it. If you do it during her cycle or too soon after, there will be more bleeding than normal making the surgery a little more risker. Spaying her can prevent alot of other illnesses when shes older, like pyometra, cancer, etc...

Most females go into heat at around 6 months...some later. Yep sounds to me like she has started a heat cycle. In a few days the bleeding will change to a yellow colored discharge..at this time she will accept a mate. The cycle last about 21 days. Watch for males hanging around and such, keep her penned if you are not wanting to breed her. Spaying is not recommended during a heat because serious bleeding can occur.

Yes, that is very possible. From what I understand some animals are ready to reproduce at 6 months. But maybe you should take her to the vet anyway. I had a 2 year old chichi/minipin and I noticed that she was bleeding a little and there was something white in it too. So I took her to the vet and she had a 'bladder' stone. Which is like a kidney stone and could have killed her. And that is a very expensive surgery. So I would say to please go ahead and take her to the vet, just in case.

Go to the pet store and get her a diaper (like a kotex belt) and disposable pads so she doesn't soil your carpets and furniture. I do that for my female dog every 6 months.

Yes she's in heat. Keep her indoors, and away from other dogs. When she's done bleeding, take her to the vet and SPAY HER.

That's not from penetration... all female dogs bleed when they are in heat.
