I think dogs react to certain sounds or sights on the tv, and I believe they will sit there and watch while whatever caught their attention is on. My dog use to suffer from separation anxiety and my vet told me to leave the tv on because the noise of the tv helped him eased his anxiety. When I came home he would always be sitting near the tv. I also had a car that loved car racing shows. She would sit on top of the tv then lean over and try to catch the cars. Here's an article on the subject on dogs watching tv

Absolutely. Dogs have problems with seeing things in colour but they aren't blind.
My Westie even walks around the back of the tv if there is another dog (or cat, or polar bear, etc) on the screen.
She loves adverts with animals in. And she sits all through 'You've Been Framed'. She is fascinated by children, animals, fast movement and so on.

Heck yeah. Dog's watch TV. My dogs like to watch anything with adventure. I'm sure the only thing they can't see is the color. And if it keeps them quiet and occupied, why fight it?

My dogs, Brooklyn and Destiny, do the same thing! lol! I watch Animal Planet alot (Animal Cops, E-Vet...) and they will sit next to me on the sofa and watch tv with me! Brooklyn, my oldest (1 year), will sit up really straight and purk his ears up whenever a dog barks and if I ask him "what is that" he will run up to the tv and whine! lol! He will look at the tv then look at me a few times and then he will get back on the sofa and continue watching tv! : )

They can see everything you can, just not in the same colors.
If they are under 21, I would restrict them to G and PG rated movies, so they don't get any ideas...

How funny! I don't think they're actually watching the show so much as the movement, but I'm sure it's still fun to watch.
