Well, if dogs got sick from raw food, mine should all be seriously ill right now! As it is, not one of them has been ill *at all* in their lives.......the oldest is 11. Feed 60 - 65% Raw Meaty Bones (such as chicken wings) and 10% offal (liver, heart, kidney) and the rest other meats over the week. (If you want a diet sheet, mail me and I'll send you one.) You are welcome to join the list below to ask any questions you want. Feeding raw is easy, it's cheap, and you have no vet bills!! And your dog is incredibly healthy.

I congratulate you on doing your research but do ask that you do a wide search. I did the same thing and now feed my dog and cats based around Dr Tom Lonsdale's raw meaty bone model. This means RAW meat, edible bones and offal. Notice there are no vegetables in there - dogs are CARNIVORES. The myth about dogs and wolves eating the stomach contents of prey has been disproved by many experts and animal researchers. It is only people trying to promote their commercial foods or books that perpetuate this fallacy. See the myth link attached below for more information on this. The carnivore article clearly explains why a dog's digestive system is not designed for significant amounts of vegetable matter. There is no need to buy pre-made patties, add heaps of supplements, grind or puree - just make friends with your local butcher. We feed (over a week or two) approximately 70-80% raw meat, 10-15% edible bone and 10-15% offal/organ. This diet contains everything your dog needs. I would also recommend joining one of the yahoo raw feeding groups - rawfeeding or RawMeatyBones are two good ones.

Raw meat & bones are a normal natural food to feed a dog. This is what dogs are designed to eat and process(dogs ARE carnivores NOT omnivores!!!!!!!)..however most people don't know how to do it properly so that the dog gets proper nutrition. Unless you want to really research it and do it up right use a good quality kibble (not a store brand) as at least part of your dogs diet.
Dogs enjoy raw or even homecooked meats and it's good for them as well. It will not cause worms, it will not cause aggression, it will not make them sick.

There are debates as to whether raw or cooked meat is best, but in either case, it is better than commercial food. Commercial food uses poor sources of protein, like beaks, feather, hooves, and even other dogs and cats, and it is so chemical soaked that it's just wrong.
Dogs can have raw meat, including chicken. Their systems are different from ours and the bacteria isn't an issue, just make sure it;s reasonably fresh.
I personally cook my dogs meat becuase I beleive that as domesticated animals they have developed digestive systems to handle cooked meat better because that is what they have been fed for centuries with sharing food with their owners, but I think either way it's much better than the garbage they call dog food.

I would NEVER feed raw meat, I am a doctor (of family medicine,) and sorry, i know many people recommend a raw food diet, but after having too much of experience with the kinds of bacteria and viruses in raw food, I would never ever subject to my dog to that!! I do feed him plenty of fresh cooked boiled chicken, beef, eggs, veggies and cottage cheese and yogurt though, after the pert food recall, i stopped the commercial dog food and make my own, however i do give him a multivitamin supplement.

Raw chicken is safe for your dog. Their immune system is different than ours and can tolerate the salmonella, and e-coli without getting sick. My 3 year old RR has been eating a raw diet for nearly a year... BUT make sure you know what you are doing and prepare the right amount of food for your dog's weight. They also need the calcium from bones, so make sure you are feeding the right things. My girl eat's 1/2 lb in the morning, and 1/2 lb at night. He meal consists of raw chicken backs, turkey necks, pork neck bones, and pureed vegetables. She also gets garlic tabs for flea prevention, Fatty acids for coat and skin, and a digestive enzyme. I will never feed my dog kibble again. If you only knew what was in dog food, you wouldn't either.
Do not ever cook the chicken or bones, because this is when they become brittle and splinter.
