I read a lot of religious blather that basically came down to three catagories:
"You're not worshipping the right god/not worshipping god right." (There is no evidence available to make a deterimation of the "right" way.)
"God is testing you like he tested Job" (Why? According to the tale, the question was settled. Why go through it again?)
"It wasn't God but the Devil." (And your evidence for this conclusion is...?)
Presuming for a moment that there actually is a divine will behind this, one might conclude that said divinity is a sadistic bastard.

well first of all DON'T BLAIM GOD this is scripture, not private interpertation To love God, first you have to get to know him as a person, he is a magnificent person, not a human, but a spirit person. After coming to an accurate knowledge of him you can appreciate him & then you can learn to love him people today equate love with emotion, this is not the same.
(Daniel 7:9-10) 9 “I kept on beholding until there were thrones placed and the Ancient of Days sat down. His clothing was white just like snow, and the hair of his head was like clean wool. His throne was flames of fire; its wheels were a burning fire. 10 There was a stream of fire flowing and going out from before him. There were a thousand thousands that kept ministering to him, and ten thousand times ten thousand that kept standing right before him. The Court took its seat, and there were books that were opened.
(James 1:13) 13 When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. . .
read the account of Job, it wasn't God that tortured him, he only allowed it to prove satan a liar
we are in the mess because of the serious sin of one man
(Romans 5:12) 12 That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned—.
God only wants the best for mankind, & he will do away with all traces of sin & death forever
(Revelation 21:4) . . .And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

God does not hate your friend but I know why he feels that way because at times I felt that some supernatural force must have it in for me. I had a lot of really bad things happen to me in a short period of time (some of them are still happening) and it led me to God. I wasn't a Christian before. I don't think God allows bad things to happen to us to punish us or to test us. I think **** happens. I think God suffers with us and can give us the strength to turn something terrible into something good if we let ourselves and let God. To me that is the main message of Christianity and the cross is a symbol of that.

Its not always God that makes your life bad. It can be bad choices someone makes, or the people around them that can influence them.
Sometimes God does throw a curve ball. But for 3 yrs in a row I was mad at God and blamed Him for my rotten life. Until I realized that I am to blame for at least half of my heart aches. The other half is my ex's fault. Together we made bad choices that caused us hardships.

Well, I can love God because I don't necessarily have to agree with the answer that one Christian gave. Is he the Pope? Even still.
The blessings of life even in the most difficult of situations are still gifts from God! I can love God as long as I remember that He loved me first and that even if I don't understand why I don't "see" him with me in my need, that He is indeed with me as He promised.
Plus, He forgives me when I've done the same thing for the 2000th plus time. No person on earth does that.
He is Love and His Love urges me to love Him back.

God is easy to love. A "bad life" is usually the result of bad decisions and bad choices. We do have free will. The real question is, how can God love me.......and you. But, He does.

God does these things to bring people to repentance. Our lifespan is but an eyeblink when compared to eternity. That is God's reward for the faithful - eternal life in Paradise. How could you not love God?
