Math is so hard because of all the numbers and calculations. Or you just suck at math.

Math is another language. To some, math comes easy, just like to some, foreign language comes easy.
Another reason why math is so hard, is because, in our school system, math is not applied the way it should be. We need to teach them more things at an earlier age, like other countries do.

Two reasons, I think. One is that you may be "right brained," which is the more creative and less analytical side of the brain. You are "right brained" if you use your left hand. Second, many of us are "math phobes" because we haven't had good teachers who knew math well enough to teach us different ways to get a result. That's one reason why I do not like to teach math above 5th grade. My teachers when I was a kid wanted us to do it one way and only one way. Perhaps I didn't understand it that way. Maybe I understood it the way my dad explained it. It didn't work that way. So I developed a fear of math early on and when you are afraid you can't do something, you usually can't do it.

Math is abstract. Some people aren't good at abstract thinking. I mean, what is "x" and why do we care about it? It's not concrete, something we can touch and hold.

It's not that hard if you concentrate. Think things through, categorize appropriately, you know.

You just have a weakness in this area. I am sure you are strong in other areas. Do not worry about it.
