the officer can give you a ticket for lewd behavior. I would not recommend soing it because if you fail to comply (throw away ticket or bicker about it) you can go to jail.

Depends on state law and city ordnance. I happen to think it's an expression of free speech. This also makes me think about the discretion I have as a police officer. The discretion to remember your use of free speech and decide if I really want to write you a $200 citation for improper window tinting or going 2mph over the speed limit or having a dirty license plate, or a non-functioning horn or high beam indicator, or for not having road flares in your trunk, or........etc.

It is not illegal to 'flip off' the police. Courts have said that police officers cannot be offended, by words or gestures. But that doesn't mean that people around that see you do it can't be offended. If the officer finds out someone watching you do that is offended, they could get you for a disorderly conduct, but that's about it.

I wouldn't recommend doing it myself. Just remember, cops have a very good memory. Take for ex: You're driving 43 in a 40?? The cop will remember you and you'll wonder why you're getting a ticker for only 3 over.

no. i heard of a guy who has sued the police on 2 different occasions because he was wrongfully arrested for this. they ended up paying him a couple thousand dollars. i'll try to find the article and post it. it's generally a very bad idea but it's called freedom of speech.

No problem at all. The officer won't mind and will probably just tell you to 'have a nice day'.

While that's a pretty stupid thing to do, I don't think it's actually illegal. Though I have no real desire to find out ... and I think it would probably not make the police too thrilled, either.

No, this is technically not illegal, however it may give the officer probable cause to detain you, as he may feel you're signaling him for help, and therefore is required to investigate to make sure you don't need any assistance.
