We're getting a Min Pin soon. We just wanted to know a few more things. How do they act around children and strangers? Do they really need to be walked every day? Also how do they act around other dogs? If anyone has a Min Pin can you please tell me about them.

1. Yes if you get them at puppy age they learn how to act around kids and strangers.
2. no, i walk my dog every 3 days or so but he's outside and plays by himself.
3. once again, get them puppy age and they are perfect. puppies love any other dog!
4. Min Pins are sweet, and loyal to their owners. They are very intelligent and learn tricks fast. They can run fast and love to play and are very affectionate. Min Pins do not eat that much and are easy keepers.

I think that if you are asking these questions now, you are not ready to get a miniature pinscher. In general they are not the best choice for homes with children because of their tenacity and the fact that they are so small it is easy to break bones. They are also not known for their patience level with hands in the face, ear-pulling, or other rough-housing. The breed in general is outgoing and sometimes aggressive, which means there are many pins who need to be the only dog. They are also great protectors of the home, which means they can be aggressive toward strangers as well. Do a lot more research before selecting this breed, as the main reason for minpins in rescue is because of the things I have mentioned above.

It's Doberman not doverman and a Miniature Pinscher is not related to the Doberman. It's a totally separate breed. There is no miniature Doberman. Min Pins can have erect or floppy ears. I like the floppy ears but it seems most breeders are breeding them for erect ears. Min Pins with floppy ears are rarely seen where I live. You're very lucky to have a Min Pin with floppy ears, they're gorgeous.

My mother has had 3 min pins from different breeders and, to be honest, I've come to the conclusion that I don't like the breed. They are incredibly yappy. They will scavenge absolutely anything at any opportunity and make themselves very ill. They hate the car and will not ride quietly in it. They have a tendancy to snap/bite, especially around food. They are snappy with kids and are difficult to train. My mother has always walked them twice a day, although I think once is probably enough as long as they have a garden to run in. The one she has at the moment hates other dogs and snaps at them too!

Good luck!!

I owned a Min Pin and never had any trouble with him. I inherited him from a friend whose marriage had gone bad. The wife hated him and the husband would have to travel around so he could not care for him properly. He had been kennel trained to the nth degree. He was only allowed out to eat and go potty. When he realized that in our home his kennel was only for when we would be out of the house for a period of time he blossomed. It is responsible of you to find out as much as you can about Min Pins. I say go to the source for information on a breed. What is right for my family might not be right for yours. I had many good times with my little Luke Skywalker. I hope you enjoy your little friend as much as I enjoyed mine. Check out this link for more information.

i had one that lived to be 19 years old. If you start train and socialize as soon as you get the puppy. They make great pets. I show my male Min Pin in obedience and in the breed ring he became a CH and got the top obedience title at the time. He had been gone since 1975. if you have any more ? please look at my profile.

i own a min pin named,"Pepper," and man, when i first brought her home, she was such a pain. i got her as a baby and now shes just about 7 but she was so so bad.. the worst thing shes ever done was if she got out the door, she was gone!! i would have to chase and chase her and she didn't listen for nothing. but you know what? my friend left the front door open and she got out, and she started to take off, but to my surprise she didn't even run and she let me take her back home. i think if your thinking about getting a min pin that you need to have the patience

My neighbors have two min pins and they have both bitten me. They are yappy and personally, I would never get one.
I know that they can be trained properly and be great dogs, but in my experience with my neighbor's dogs as well as ones in our rescue, they need a lot of training to not be little turds.
Good luck!!!!

I don't own any as I have a child the ones I have come across have been very nippy and they are extreme yappers.
My neighbor has one that they let run loose it's been in my yard and attempted to go after me. My local animal control says there is nothing that can be done as there is no leash law and until it bites someone they can't do anything.
I would never own one as I said Ihave been around them and don't trust any.
