I never could understand why God would do such horrible things to Job just to prove a point to Satan. Why would He care what Satan thinks?

My church is doing a play based on the book of Job called Through The Darkness by Jane M. Pecora and Tom Rutter. The tale of Job shows that no matter what if you put your faith in God you will always get through the good and bad times. God lets Satan do many bad things to Job because God is trying to show Satan that Job will always be faithful to him and never sin. Hopefully this helps.

The tale of Job shows that we don't always understand the context of our suffering; that even though it seems like God isn't paying attention, God won't allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear; that tragedy in our lives does not mean that God is displeased with us or that we've done something to deserve it; and that no matter how out of control life seems to us, God is still in control.

Its not a tale. It is an account. What God will do is up to him. He does not guarantee a happy ending. What is more important is the account of Jobs journey of faith causing him to declare 'I know that my Redeemer lives'.

Yes it does, when I put my trust in God, then God puts His trust in Me.
Bad thing happen in this world, it is not God's fault, and it is not always Satan,
why blame God when bad things happen, Men were put in dominion of this Earth. and when bad thing happen it is usually men that cause it.
not because they are following God or Satan, but because they have desires that only suit them selves.

Sure. It says that it can be hard, and Satan may attack you, your own family may turn agains you, but in the end God will recompense those who endure.

Fine by me. How long did he suffer for? Not more than a year. And he had 100% returns? Tell me what stocks today have that kind of returns.
