you won't care what Ft. Sill is like because you won't see any of it until after you finish basic. And by then it won't matter because anywhere off base is a lot better than being on any base.
Btw, if you think you're in good shape now, you'll still be dog tired nearly every night of basic. Full gear is heavy. You get to carry it on your back with your weapon in your hands.
Without any gear, I could run a mile at your age in 5:20 [not kidding either]. Basic was still a lot of pain and work.
And it's worth every moment. Civilians can't understand because they haven't been there. [I'm not always sure we should let them vote.]
:-)

I have been down to that part of the state many times. It does get pretty hot in the summer there. Fort Sill, is one of the few, if not the only, frontier forts left. So, there is a lot of history there. I doubt you will have anytime to look around. Geronimo, Quanah Parker and many other famous Indians are buried there.

Man I went through basic with some fat piecesof ****, you can go in way worse shape. However to be a halfway decent soldier you need to double your push-ups and sit ups, and run at very slowest a 6:30 mile. To prepare yourself just make sure you know how to sweep, mop, and wax floors. Also make sure you can use a buffer. Because that is all you do at that poor excuse for a training event. Be prepared to chill of ft. sill, cause that **** is gonna be so easy it is dissapointing. I've heard ft. sill sucks, and its windy. Also, you need to volunteer to go to airborne school and to RIP ranger indoctrination program cause we ne you non-infantry types right now. Cause you dont want to wear a black beret, those things are embarassing.

First, you should learn about operational security and the importance of keeping your mouth shut as far as date, places, and events are concerned. There are way too many enemies of the US and its citizens even inside our borders to go around talking about things.
I congratulate you for your willingness to serve but an entry like this could put you in harm's way.
As for physical training keep working on it until you leave for boot camp and you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Be prepared most to keep your mouth shut, get yelled at and learn as much as you can as fast as you can.

Hot weather and humidity. Take your salt tablets and get plenty of water. Just remember, the drill instructors are all "bark" and no "bite" these days.

You should worry about JODY coming after your significant other. LOL!!!
But seriously, get ready to self motivate yourself. You will be rushed 3/4 of most days.

Yeah, impressive. Now, do all that repeatedly all day while answering questions that make no sense.
