I was just curious...with all the use of technology: text messaging, watching television and movies, and browsing the internet- will the human eye evolve to be stronger?

Or...

I know staring at a computer screen for hours is damaging to one's sight, so do you think the eye will get weaker and need stronger lenses and operations to correct vision?

Or do you think eyes will stay about the same?

I was just wondering since technology is becoming more dominant in most people's lives. Thanks!

The only reason we need glasses is because the lense in the eye will eventually widen, making the concentration point before the sensory nervs. However, some people will not need it because genetically speaking, their lense in the eye doesnt change or grow fat after being concentraded for hours by their dna.

Of course, we always have laser eye surgery.

There is no evolutionary pressure here, so it would not effect it. It's not like the computer is going to eat the people who squint at it.

It doesn't matter if I destroy my eye sight looking at a screen, my genes are still good and that is what is passed on.
