Okay. I just finished my sophomore year. I was always pretty skinny, not bony, but I only had a little bit of a stomach. I cheered my whole 8th grade year, but I decided not to cheer in high school. The beginning of my freshman year was fine, until it seemed like one day in about the middle of the school year, I had all of a sudden grown love handles, a bigger stomach, stretch marks on my legs, and my hips hung over my pants. I tried dieting, and my mom tried to help me..I lost a little last summer.
The thing is, I'm not fat. I know I don't eat a perfect diet, but I do try to watch what I eat...I work at a restaurant, so I choose not to eat fried food as often, and I try to drink water some nights instead of Coke. I don't over eat, and I'm conscious about what I eat. I've also begun cheerleading again, and having four hour practices..They're workouts.
I have friends that eat a pizza and fries everyday for lunch, but I'm not like that.
Any idea as to why or what could help me?

Hey, I'm 17. I used to be skinny but as i grew up i gained weight too. Hormones are a big part of gaining weight as a young woman. Your body is just growing. Water is a main factor to slimming down, so drink up. Also, stress can cause you to gain weight. You may have too much on your plate. Find time for your self. Try doing some stretches at night. This will help you burn calories, be more flexible, and ease your stress. Also, drinking milk before you go to bed helps relieve hunger, calm you, and put you to sleep.

EXERCISE!!!!! EXERCISE!!!!! EXERCISE!!!!!
Diet: Eat about 1/2 of what you normally eat is but keep a balanced healthy meal. Don't starve yourself!!!!
Work out for 1-2 hour 5 times a week if you can. Running, Dancing, anything to burn calaries.
Keep hydrated. Coke is liquid candy with lots of sugars, think of it that way. You are right to drink more water.

There is no real trick to dieting. Most people who fail are just plain lazy and cant keep up eating correctly or exercising.
The hardest part will be changing your daily routine.

Good Luck!!!

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

You are becoming a woman now. Women naturally have more fat on their bodies compared to boys. Some of your friends may not be quite as mature as you, so they seem thinner. Don't worry they will catch up. Thats great that you are exercising. Just continue to watch your diet, but don't obsess, you're exercising plenty to take care of any bad things you might be eating. Don't worry, guys like curves!

Endomorph, endomorphic, and endomorphism can refer to:

One of the three somatotypes, or animal body-types, that contains high body fat, and that gains weight easily (also ectomorphic and mesomorphic)
So you're an endomorph. You will have to exercise more that some other people. It seems the cheering was keeping you fit. If you enjoy it stay with it. It's much better to exercise with something you enjoy.

At 16 many girls stop or slow down their growth rate, which effects how many calories you burn. You just have a slower metabolism than the girls that can scarf down a pizza and without consequence. Try lifting some weights. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism will be.

everyones' metabolism is different, that is why some of us can eat everything in sight and not gain a pound and others gain weight just by looking at food.
the cheerleading again should solve your prob.but a good idea when you have weight gain or loss,is to get your thyroid checked.its a simple blood test.

Your body is changing. Accept it. You're getting a woman's body. Don't diet, it's unhealthy. THis is probably your awkward stage and you will thin out. Just work out, eat whatever you want when you are hungry and stop when you feel full.
