I think it will be a huge success!
It is both 'retro' (remember the 'Woody' ?) & 'modern', Which is very popular right now.
Having been in the auto industry for many years, I speak from experience. My customers are very tired of the same old "mini-vans" yet they have the need for a family vehicle that can comfortably seat 6-7 people with all their "stuff"
Most are buying big, gas guzzler SUV's just so that they can accomplish filling the above stated needs. The Flex will be a 'happy medium'
I think it will replace the 'idea' of the mini-van. & allow people an alternative to the biggest of the SUV's.
It is my understanding that it will use the current Edge powertrain (3.5 liter V6 w/6speed automatic) which should be quite capable of producing ample power while still getting good fuel economy. That has been lacking in the SUV segment that these people are choosing to buy due to the lack of any other alternatives.
Here's THE alternative!

The only bad thing about it is that it won't be available for another year! I wish it were sooner!

I say its pretty darn awesome. I think it looks great. I don't think it will be DOA like others have said. As gas prices go up, so do cost of living expenses and also minimum wage, etc. I read articles recently by Winding Road and Auto Blog that despite high gas prices, Ford truck sales are way up. As far as the Ford Flex, I was very impressed by the styling. At first I thought it would be a smaller vehicle to compete directly with the Scion xB and Nissan Cube, etc., but when I saw the unveiling on YouTube I realized it was a Crossover. Its gonna be a sweet package with its optional refrigerator, sky roof, captains chairs and DVD system. The captains chairs look really nice and luxurious. I like everything about this car, gas guzzler or not (by the way, the CAFE or MPG standards will probably raised by then). A+ for Ford!

It looks ok, but will be DOA. Its speculated to have sticker of around $27-28K. Why has Ford stopped making affordable family vehicles? The long over do dead Windstar was expensive and that was for the bare bones version. Ford skimps on the options. Not wonder their vehicles do not sell as expected. the Flex looks kool, but families need an affordable vehicle and the flex will probably have its name changed to Freestar or Windstar by the second year in production, if it lasts that long. What we really need, another gas guzzling vehicle. Why doesn't Ford build a real fuel efficient car??

Too early to say. The look is so-so to my eye. The Edge is FAR better looking, IMHO.
It looks like another massive gas-guzzler but since they haven't published any specs on it that's just a guess. If fuel prices head to $5 a gallon or worse in '09 as some pundits say, it will be DOA.

If it is 29/22, you may element in 25% much less on E85, which expenses extra, no longer as broadly obtainable and much less skill. E85 nonetheless has to plenty going against it to be well worth mutually as. It additionally takes extra fossil gasoline to make according to gallon than gasoline.

I think is looks really sharp! I don't think it should replace their van though. That won't turn out well because the Freestar is a good selling van.
