Yes, to the answers that are posted above mine.

Also, Fiber is like a scrub brush for your colon and intenstines. It helps you pass waste from your system. If your diet is low in fiber, it is hard to have a bowel movement. If your diet is high in fiber then it is easy and regular. The consequences of not having regular bowel movements are that your body is trying to rid itself of poisonous materials, but can not, therefore it gets stuck in your system and at least some of those toxins/poisons are reabsorbed into your blood stream where your body has to fight harder against those toxins. Usually people who don't have regular bowel movements are lethargic, sleepy, tired, have skin problems, headaches and a hard time going to the bathroom when they do actually go.

Analogy:
The body is like a body of water. The Sea of Galilee in Israel is bountiful with fish and plant life and supports thousands daily along with nice fresh water to drink. This body of water has a source where the water flows in and supplies the Jordan River as its output. Now the Jordan River flows South into the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea is as such becuase it gets rid of nothing. no waste can leave the dead sea and therefore can not support life.

We have to be able to get rid of the stuff our body does not use to have a healthy life. Fiber helps do that. More than just about anything else. By the way, if you are not having at LEAST one bowel movement a day, you are medically constipated and need to start eating much more fiber. some dr.s say that we need to have up to three a day.

I hope that makes sense to you and helps fully answer your question.

Fiber lines the digestive tract and ensures that the sugar is foods is absorbed at a rate to allow blood sugar control.

Fiber helps your regularity, meaning that the nutrients in your food are able to be absorbed by your body as they pass through the intestines. If they rush out as fast as they go in, your body gets no benefit from it. When you have diaherria, you are robbing your body of perfectly good energy, and flushing it down the toilet. Sorry to be graphic, but that's exactly what you are doing.

Fiber helps flush your system of toxins and waste materials, it can help you loose water weight and fills you up. Drink plenty of water with a higher fiber diet because fiber needs water to work its wonders.

Dietary fiber has been shown to protect us from cancer (especially colon cancer) , heart disease, bowel disease, including constipation and diverticulosis, and obesity. It may also help to reduce blood sugar levels in people with diabetes.

Makes teeth work, slows ingestion, cleans teeth

Nourishes the colon, speeds up passage, lowers pressures

Softens and enlarges stool, prevents trauma to the body,
reduces strain of defecation

"fiber" is anything that the body is unable to digest.
1.) It makes you feel more full, because it takes up space in your stomach, but it is not being digested. (useful for weight loss)
2.)Because it is just passing through your digestive system, it helps you go to the bathroom.
