This is an old recipe that my grandmom made , I know they sell it in stores, But i want to make my own, Does anyone know a recipe? it will be appreciated?

This recipe is from the Pennsylvania Dutch cookbook. dated copyright...1964
Old lehigh County Recipe:
1 and 1/2 cups flour
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter or lard
1/2 cup light molasses
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter with pastry blender till resembles smal peas. (crumbly)
Set aside. Mix together the molasses, water, soda. Divide evenly between 2 pastry shells. 8" Top each with half of the crumbs. bake 450 degrees 10 minutes. reduce heat to 350 and bake about 20 min. longer or till firm.

2nd recipe is from same book.
Molasses shoo-fly-cake.(Molasses crumb pie)
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1/8 tsp. ground ginger
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tablespoons shortening
Mix together 1st 7 ingredients. Cut in shortening with pastry blender till crumbly. Line 9" pie pan with pastry crust of choice.Combine 4 remaining ingredients
1/2 cup molasses
3/4 cup boiling water
1 and 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 egg yolk, well beaten
Alternate layers of crumbs and liquid mixture, ending with crumbs.
Bake 450 for 10 minutes then 350 for 20 minutes.or till firm

Shoo Fly pie
3/4 cup dark Karo syrup or molasses
3/4 cup boiling water
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 unbaked 9 in pie shell
1 1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup shortening ( I use butter)
1/4 cup brown sugar
Disslove baking soda in boiling water and syrup or molasses.
In a separate bowl combine sugar & flour, cut in butter or shortening with a pastry cutter or fork until its crumbley.Pour 1/3 of the liquid into the bottom of the pie shell, then 1/3 of crumbley mixture. Making layers until you end up with crumbs on top.
bake 375 for 35 minutes

Shoo-Fly Pie

INGREDIENTS

1 (9 inch) pie shell
1 cup molasses
3/4 cup hot water
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup shortening

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

To Make Bottom Layer: In a medium bowl combine molasses, hot water, and baking soda. Stir well. Whisk in beaten egg. Pour mixture into pie shell.

To Make Crumb Topping: In a medium bowl combine flour and brown sugar. Mix well, then cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle on top of molasses layer.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Lower temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bake an additional 30 minutes.

Here is an old Amish recipe:

Shoofly Pie

1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. water
1/3 c. dark corn syrup
1/3 c. maple syrup
1/4 c. light molasses
1 Lg. egg, well beaten
1 Unbaked pie crust

Combine flour, sugar set aside. Put water in pan Stir in corn syrup and molasses and maple syrup. Add egg. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of flour mixture into unbaked pie crust. Carefully cover with liquid filling. Top with remaining flour mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until the mixture sets. Makes one pie.

Crust Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup cold LAND O LAKES® Butter
3 to 4 tablespoons cold water


Filling Ingredients:

3/4 cup hot water
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup mild-flavor molasses or dark corn syrup
1 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons cold LAND O LAKES® Butter
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla


Topping Ingredients:

LAND O LAKES™ Heavy Whipping Cream, whipped, sweetened, if desired


Heat oven to 400°F. Combine 1 cup flour and salt in medium bowl; cut in 1/3 cup butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Mix in enough water until flour is moistened. Shape into ball. Roll out dough into 12-inch circle on lightly floured surface. Fold into quarters. Place into 9 1/2-inch deep-dish pie plate; unfold, pressing firmly against bottom and sides. Crimp or flute edge.

Combine hot water and 1 teaspoon baking soda in medium bowl. Stir in molasses. Set aside.

Combine 1 cup flour and brown sugar in medium bowl. Cut in 2 tablespoons butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1/2 cup crumbs.

To remaining crumb mixture, add molasses mixture, egg and vanilla. Beat until well mixed. Pour mixture into prepared crust; sprinkle with the reserved crumb mixture. Bake 10 minutes.

Reduce oven temperature to 350°F. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until filling is set. Serve warm with whipped cream, if desired.
