I come from an Independent Christian Church/Protestant background. Does the Orthodoxy believe in faith alone?

That is, of course, completely up to you. Do you agree with the tenets of the Orthodox faith? Do you accept Orthodox doctrine? Orthodoxy is a very beautiful and traditional faith, and is a solid and historical Christian church.

>>Does the Orthodoxy believe in faith alone?<<

From an Orthodox website:

"Orthodox Christianity teaches that belief in Jesus must be combined with putting that belief into action -- feeding the hungry, ministering to others, etc. Both essential.

"We read in the epistles: 'Faith without works is dead.'

"One can indeed 'believe' in Christ and yet lead a life that betrays that belief. Hence belief alone is not sufficient. 'Not all who say 'Lord, Lord' will have a place in my Kingdom.'"

Orthodox or Roman Catholic. The Roman Catholic Church is the only church with an infallible Pope though. Good luck!

The Orthodox Church is part of my cultural background.

I don't bother too much about theology, I go there for the mystic spiritual experience. I am not into joining, only attending.

I don't know about your question but it is a good idea to try your best to remove any word in your vocabulary that ends in "OULD." Unless you are telling yourself what to do words like "Should, Would & Could" are empowerment words. That is that these words empower someone else to tell you what to do or how you "Should" live your life. In your question you are asking other people to tell you what you "SHOULD" do with your life and I'm telling you that you "SHOULD" decide for yourself.

Maybe what you might have asked is what would benefit me by joining an Orthodox Church?
