frankenhoohoo: Too many people it seems judge the book by it's cover. Don't the politicians and Mafia etc, dress smartly to attend a church, only to leave and cause misery?

Religion is a group of people trying to understand their spirituality within the material world. It's entirely plausible for this theory to work, so long as everyone realizes that their spirituality is and always will be experienced differently from another person's spirituality.

Religion is the path on which you walk with the light of spirituality that is within you. Maeteralism is the platform everyone must have to use it for necessity but if overdosed might shut off the light leaving you in utter darkness never to find your goal of life. So all the three are required to reach the goal of life, but light will be the most needed as to show the way.

Spirituality is most the important ...at least, Jesus thought so.
He said: "Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need."
Matthew 5:3
Spirituality is opposed to materialism.
That does not mean that a spiritual person has no material effects.
It only means he does not believe his happiness derives from material things.
Religion?
It is suppose to help one become, and stay, spiritual.
Most religions fail miserably.

Awesome question! Religion and materialism go hand in hand, it is spirituality that is the odd man out. If you think about it it is tele-evangelists that are wearing nice suits, driving nice cars and covered in bling. If you look at a missionary they are probably wearing something modest and doing what they can to help others, not just themselves. Just my opinion.

Spirituality transcends the limits of both religion and materialism. Religion, in fact, requires materialism to exist.
