is there actually a religion out there that does not resort to fear and violence to control others with threats of torture and "hell"

what would happen if there was no 'sin', no savior, no hell, no heaven and people just got along?

would we still have religion or elitist ideology?

Generally, the more preposterous the religion, the greater the need for scare tactics to get people in line.

* Which religions need the threat of a hell? *

Most all religions have a direct or implied place of torment for the non believers, apostates, heretics, blasphemers, adulterers, fornicators, for lack of an all inclusive term, sinners.

Violence and or fear serves as an excellent tool of compliance to dogma. Some apply the torment for real in the physical, while others apply it eternally in the spiritual realm.

If there was no such things as sin, saviors, hell or heaven, what a wonderful world this would be. The problem of religion or elitist ideology is that there are religions, and elitist ideologies.

The universe is one.

Very few religions have a "Hell" or the threat of torture for sin etc. Most don't even talk of sin. Those that believe in crimes against the universe or God, mostly believe that retribution will come in this life. Most religions do not have an idea of "sin" and certainly not of an inherent wickedness in humanity. Most see humans as generally good, hard-working and long suffering. For most religions, the afterlife is a place of rest or a shadow of a former existence.

Religion doesn't require a Hell, many don't have a Hell
