Many people don't like to face the fact that they are not in control and they aren't God. That is why so many of us don't come to Christ until we either face a crisis or see our need for Him. Yet, even in that, He patiently waits and welcomes us with open arms when we finally surrender! He is soo GOOD!!

"why do people who do not believe in God... act like it is so horrible to believe that a "higher power" created all that we see including ourselves?"
It is not so bad to consider it as a possibility, but it is bad to start adding details to this possibility without any proof, evidence, or rational reason.
"Science aside, how do you really explain the personal differences that we share, like fingerprints, retnas etc.?"
Bible aside, how do you explain the 10 commandments? You don't because it is a biblical topic. Just the same, fingerprints and retnas are scientific.
"Have any of you really took the time to read the bible and experience God's love?"
Yes I have, and it proved to be dead wrong.
"What if your wrong?"
What if you're wrong about the Invisible Pink Unicorn?
"...hopes that some of you will consider looking into the realism of Jesus and that he not only was a man, but the Son of God, and that He will return."
Well, there is no realism of Jesus aside from the fact that people do believe in him. He exists as an imaginary friend to many, but that's the extent of it. He was not the son of God. This begs the question. It assumes that there is/was a god, which we cannot prove. Jesus cannot return if he never left. He never left because he was never here in the first place because he never existed. If you think I am lying, do a quick search on Mithras, Krishna, or Horus. All were man-gods just like Jesus and have life stories so similar to his, you can tell that the story of Jesus was obviously copied from these other stories which all predate the Jesus story by a hundred years or more. Also consider the fact that there is no record of the existence of Jesus that was recorded at any time during the time of his lifespan. Stories of Jesus did not even start popping up until decades after he had died. If Jesus is so important how come he never wrote anything down and no one ever wrote anything indicating his existence while he was alive? With all do respect, do some research and you will see what I am talking about.

The problem isnt the believe in a higher power, the problem is the forcing of a particular higher power and the belief set that goes along with it.
I have not one problem at all with personal religious beliefs, I have a huge problem with Religion and their beliefs.
There was a day when a church was a force for good in the community. It was a place for like-minded people to go, worship, and join in common cause, like supporting each other and the well-being of the church and grounds.
Today's modern mega churches are nothing more than showrooms to sell their particular brand of god. They are about money and political power, not about helping the small communities that made them.

Err....the Inquisition, the Salem witch hunt, the Crusades, the Holocaust, 9-11, most of the current wars are religious related, suicide bombing, Jim Jones, etc...
I probably could go on, but you get the just. Religion causes a lot of horrible things.
And you are going to be waiting a long time for a dead guy. Heck, he said that some people would still be alive when he came. He is about 2000 years late now. Give it up already.

Because it really is horrible that people believe so intensely in something for which there is no evidence whatsoever. It would NOT be so horrible, if such deluded people did not do such horrible things as a result of their delusion. Most atheists are highly educated regarding modern religions. Many are former theists - so the answer is yes, many atheists have read the bible and even believed in god in the past. If we're wrong, then, like Bertrand Russell said, we'll just have to tell god that she didn't provide enough evidence.

Believe it or not, I used to be the most devout little Christian girl in the world. I read the Bible every day, prayed at every meal, and went to church every Sunday. I tried to fake it, but I never felt any real love from an invisible man in the sky. As I got older, I began questioning the Bible and the church leaders. I soon realized I couldn't force myself to believe it anymore. I understand where you're coming from because that's where I was a long time ago. As for explaining our physical traits, I would say DNA makes us unique.

Jesus is Called the Master Craftsman at the side of God. Why do we have to put science aside. God is the great scientist of all. Do you think there is no intelligence behind his creation or something. Gods intelligence/wisdom and power are unfathomable. Just because we live for only a short period in the flesh on earth does this mean we have to be so stupid. Gods wisdom and the spirit of his creation is screaming at us to wake up.

Good question.
It appears as if you haven't really thought about who most Atheists are. You ask if we have really taken the time to read the bible and experience god's love. The truth is that a majority of Atheist have read the bible, but haven't experienced God's love. Some of us were christians for years, and studying the bible with honesty is what made us atheists.
You aparently are mistankingly led to believe that Atheists haven't really thought religion through. You will find that a majority of Athiests have actually put more thought and study into understanding religion than most Christians. Athiests don't just blindly choose to disbelieve. Chistians mostly do blindly choose to believe.
I hope at some point in your life, you have the opportunity to get out of your destructive religious thought patterns. You ask why it is so horrible to believe in a higher power?
Believe in a higher power, without any evidence beyond personal accounts and emotional feelings, can be very dangerous. There are people who are willing to kill others and themselves in the name of faith. You may not be there, but ask yourself, if Jesus asked you to defend him, by going to war, or attacking enemies, could you say no? Or would you be a faithful Christian and do what the lord says to do.
Christians always respond that their God wouldn't ask them to do something like that, but in reality, their God asked the Israelites to do much worse for thousands of years before Christ came along.
If you truly are completely faithful and believe in the existence of God, then you are very vanerable to suggestion. All that is required with completely faithful beleivers is a charismatic person to drive them to violence. If you believe that God wants you to do something, you have to do it, no matter what. This is what leads to suicide bombers and holy wars. That is why believing in a higher power is so dangerous.
All it takes is someone manipulating Gods word in the name of power and you have a bad situation, and people do it all the time.

Believe or don't believe.
Each to their own...
When people start imposing, that is when things get nasty. I think you will find that 90 percent of the people who don't believe in god dont feel the urge to cry "I am an Atheist" from every rooftop they can find. They choose not to believe quietly.
Rather than preach on-line though, why don't you go donate money or hand out soup to the homeless... you know, actually do something decent for the world, rather than act like a missionary on a laptop.

I've read the bible, and nothing will make you an atheist faster in my opinion.

1. If you want to believe in some god, it doesn't bother me.
2. We have differences because we are all individuals, each have different DNA. There's great variation in nature. No need to have to invoke the supernatural to explain it.
3. I was a Christian for many years. So yes I did take the time to study the bible and ultimately that is what turned me off of Christianity.
4. That's Pascal's Wager. Please read this:
