Simple answer: we're not. We prefer reality, warts and all, to even the most beautiful, comforting fantasy. We don't pretend that there is a life beyond death just to make ourselves less fearful of death. We don't pretend there is a purpose behind everything that happens in the universe just to make us feel less uneasy. We don't pretend that there is an invisible friend, big brother, or flock of angels watching over us to make us less fearful of the harsh world around us. We face the world as it is.

From this and the other question you asked, I can tell that you have no idea what reality is. You seem to be saying that God is a reality, while science and reason is not. That's too much cognitive dissonance for me.

they aren't. An atheist follows a different path from you, and the reality is that there are many different paths we can take in this life. In my view, an atheist faces reality a lot closer than Christians, because what Christians believe seems to me to be so illogical as to be amazingly distant from reality. However, that is there's and blessings to all for whatever path they choose. My words aren't meant to criticize you for whatever you believe.

They are? I thought they sort of defined it.
Atheist embrace science which exist is no matter how much you cover you ears and hum. They take that to their own level and don't think God(s) exist. They are some of the nicest people I know.
