AWSOME!!! I did this w/ a girl... she was a bit younger. We did hot pink/tint of pink in the white/ baby pink & lavender. If u don't want to include the ceiling in u'r creativity... then u have to cover it & anything that u don't want paint on. If u can move everything out.. EVERYTHING then u only have to cover the floor & ceiling which we did. Then paint the walls u'r primary color.. mayb a tint of either blue or purple in white... then get those colors w/ a 4" brush & go for it!! b prepared to have everything colored ( my tarps still sing the colors as well as I was standing behind her & wore the colors as well.lol ) Get a friend involved. U'll have a BLAST! I would use satin paint as u'r base then use either semi or gloss for the top. If u wanted to mix a metallic in u'r white u can p/u mettalic's at u'r craft stores in the little btls & mix it in u'r base paint. It will give the bkgrd a glimmer. I LOVE 2 c u'r rm when it's done.. e me w/ a pix..
I also did a grls rm w/ blues/purples.. we sponged it on. we did 2 walls w/ purple as the bttm sponge & blue over & the other 2 walls opposite. NOW my advice to u so it doesn't look so dark... ( unless u like dark of, course) Is only do the walls 3/4 ways up or only do 2 walls in the sponging. U can use sponges/rags/plastic bags/ wash it on/ brush stroke it on... make sure 2 use glaze w/ the finish which helps it appear different depths. U can purchase glaze at craft stores or hardware stores.. R Walmart carrys it mch cheaper than both. Same w/ their paint. The other 2 walls paint a solid blue & purple . There's so mch u can do... stripes/ sqaures/circles/ .. IF u use circles in u'r room.. u can use CD's hanging different lengths for a moble or over u'r windows. Leave them & they reflect lit all over or paint them w/ spray paint for anthr color to accent u'r room.. lime green?
Go 2 u'r hardware/paint store... p/u different samples & several of the same one... tape it 2 u'r walls & c how it changes during the day w/ the light from outside as well as in u'r room.
May i suggest.. that if u do purples/blues.. that u do use accents of pinks or lime green or silver or oranges like throw pillows for bed or floor... the trim around u'r door/windows/base board..... make u'r own board for pix w/ material of that accent that u can p/u from clearance from fabric stores/walmart.. lamps/shades.. curtains.. frames..
Have fun! Make it POP.. u only 16 once~

Pick a light shade of either purple or blue to paint the walls and ceiling then apply the other color by patting a crumpled up plastic grocery bag that has been lightly touched to the paint. It is cheap and cool and not as messy as splatter painting. This way you have both colors and it is not going to leave runny streaks on your walls if you to change the color again sometime.

Consult with your dad and ask him if you can paint one wall a deep midnight blue. Then use gold or silver metallic paint or even white or light purple paint and a stencil to paint a crescent moon and a few stars.
The other walls can be painted white which will only give more drama and more attention to the one wall painted midnight blue with silver, gold or purple moon and stars. Then only one wall would have to repainted if your dad wants a white room when you move out.

Some people are affected by the colors and quantity of light in their room(s). Light purple is a pretty color. Better when combined with a color in the opposite scale of colors. Consider the intensity of the paint. Colors that darken a room which has few sun light from windows will contribute to depression in some people. Tones of colors that contribute to light in the room(s) are preferred. If you want to darken the room(s), do it with curtains.

1] buy a bedding set with blue[s] and purple[s] in it. [ maybe matching curtains - keep reading ]
2] pick a lighter blue for walls, and sponge or spatter a medium purple over it. [ lavender with medium blue over it.]
3] add large accessories [ rug, chair, curtains/pillows ] in the lighter shade, and small [ curtain ties, lamps, picture frames, desk or dresser accessories ] in the medium shade.
P.S. practice spattering outside before you do it. And cover
EVERYTHING you aren't going to spatter, including ceiling and carpet!

I think you should try a light/dark purple...that is what I did...and it is really calming and relaxing!
Or if you like blues that is also a cool surrounding!
Just try to express yourself and do what you feel like doing!!Good luck finding a color!
