I live in Missouri and the mobile home's VIN plate has been completely removed by a prior owner. I have the VIN number but there's no plate. I would like to apply for a lost title but the Highway Patrol needs the plate to read the VIN number to accomplish this task. Thank you very much. I don't know where to go to order a new VIN plate.

The manufacturer may be able to provide a new plate, or you can try a company that specialises in duplicating VIN plates (I know they do automobiles, but am not sure if they can do a mobile home). Look in Hemmings Motor News for companies that offer duplicate and/or replacement VIN tags. Good luck!

I presume you are talking about a motor home? The problem is they have 2 different VIN#s if they are made by other than the chassis manufafacturer. One is the chassis number, given by GM, Ford, or whoever, but the mobile home manufacturer, Fleetwood, Triple E, or whoever, applies a VIN# as well. In these cases, the number on the dash and the number on the door jamb are different. Yes, you may need an inspection to find the Police VIN hidden on the vehicle, which is usually used to id stolen vehicles, and then have DMV assign a new number. In Manitoba they are called PGSKIN#s, I don't know what they would be called in your state.
Have you tried the manufacturer? Perhaps they can provide a copy of the Certificate of Origin.

You'll probably have to apply to the state for a state-assigned VIN. Any tag office can help you start the process. Most vehicles have several hidden VIN plates and you may need to have your mobile inspected by the Highway Patrol to check for these.
