Beaches are open year round. They are used for fishing, hiking and camping, not just swimming. And for ice fishing and snowmobiling in the winter.

It depends on where. Canada is a big country you know :)

Most beaches on lakes in southern Ontario and Quebec, as well as the sea shore in BC and the Maritimes, will open in two weeks. At least, that's when they will be patrolled by lifeguards...you can go swimming now, but it will be cold and the beaches won't be supervised.

Most beaches open late June usually when elementary schools close( around the 24); Until then it's not warm enough.

they are always open BUT the water is really cold till later in the year, also check for signs that say they are safe to swim
