USA lost. Americans withdrew in shame. Saigon fell into Communist hands. History will repeat it's self in Iraq.

Our objective in Vietnam was to keep communism from infiltrating South Vietman. Communism then would continue to spread throughout Asia and possibly to other parts of the world.
Our objective was not met and we did not keep communist from entering Cambodia and Laos. We lost is this respect. Fortunately other countries in the region were not attacked.
Today, Vietnam relies heavily on our economy. We took our enemy, created jobs, helped rebuild the country, therefore, a victory for us. We have shown Vietnam, as well as the world, how a democratic government provides better life styles compared to communism. In this sense, a victory.

It was a stale mate. We came out of the war with less lost, and a stronger economy. Thus we were closer to an all out victory than the other country.
It was certainly the closest we've ever come to losing... save Iraq anyway.

We pulled our troops out and fought to our deaths to help.
That, my friend, is a victory in itself.
