For the past two weeks, my entire sleeping schedule has been super messed up. This morning, I woke up at 5:30 AM, when I just went to sleep at 1 AM, and didn't even need to be awake until about 12 PM.

At the same time, last weekend I started having a migraine that seems to have lasted 4 days, and I never had them before.

However, this week has been pretty hectic, I just graduated from highschool last night. Do you think both of these are stress-related?

It sure sounds like stress related to me. When your sleep is thrown off it sure can mess up your system. In the vitamin section of any drugstore you can buy Melatonin. Take 1 at night and you will sleep and also can get your sleep back into a regular routine. Melatonin is the chemical in our brain that tells us to sleep. It comes in 1mg. and 3mg. tablets. Start with the lower dose and then increase according to bottle directions. If you have very vivid, wild dreams and wake up groggy, you are taking too much. Allow yourself a good 8 hours of sleep after taking. Good luck, sweet dreams, and no more headaches!

As a former person insomniac I have a few suggestions that may help. 1) Go to bed at the same time every night. 2) Avoid caffiene for at least a couple hours before you go to bed. 3) Do not watch t.v in bed- it is not meant to be something to fall asleep to. 4) Go for a nice long walk at least a couple of hours before you go to bed. The walk will help relax you and make you tired. 5) Always get up at the same time every morning. Do not hit your snooze alarm. Get up as soon as your alarm goes off and make sure you leave it set for the same time every day. 6) Do not eat right before bed. Eating right before you go to bed can keep you awake. 7) Get into a nightly routine, yes, a schedule... just like parents put their young kids on as a bedtime routine.
Not getting enough sleep or even too much sleep can also cause headaches. I suffered with migraines for years and found that I had fewer if I monitored how much sleep I got. Stress can cause a person to be unable to sleep so I would suggest trying some relaxation music. Gentle sounds of the surf or anything to create what is called white noise. It will relax you and help you fall asleep sooner. Congrats on your graduation and good luck in your future.
