I was visited by Jehovah Witneses for nine (9) consecutive years and we had a great friendship although they've never got to convince me. I've been at the Kingdom Hall in different occasions and I can tell you for sure that JW women dress, and wear makeup and jewerly like anybody else.

It is perfectly fine to wear makeup. The only thing that the Bible says about grooming and adornment is that they should not be extreme. They should be modest.
A little makeup makes a woman look healthy and pleasant in appearance. While it is the inner person that counts most, people are drawn to others by how they appear.
If you had a mole on your face, would you have it removed? Many would. A little enhancement and correction of flaws is fine.
Esther, a servant of God, was given beauty treatments in the Bible, and showed no objection. There are mentions of jewelry and perfume use among Israelite people. Makeup cases have been found in archeological excavations of Israel. One of Job's daughter was named something that could have meant a word for black eyeliner.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not "peddle their religion".
During their entire modern history, Jehovah's Witnesses have never believed the bible to teach that cosmetics displease God or Christ.
It might be interesting for the questioner to browse Jehovah's Witnesses' official website, and note that many or most of the women are photographed wearing at least some makeup.

"I had two lady's just come to my door peddling their religion "
Your first mistake. Jehovah's Witnesses DO NOT PEDDLE a religion. They come to your door to try to get you to read your Bible, to think about what it contains and finally to help you see the need to ACT on what you have learned.
"I thought they were not supposed to wear makeup."
Mistake number two. Can you provide ANY written evidence to support this 'thought' of yours?
Modesty is the key phrase. There is nothing wrong with makeup used properly.

No. There are no rules about make-up. They are just supposed to dress modestly and be presentable. Which they invariably are. Anyway, what business is it of yours whether ANY woman chooses to use peach lipstick or not? If it had been a JW man wearing lipstick, well, that might be a bit more intriguing. But it won't happen.

Error on your part. Modesty is all that is required. Make up properly done is fine.
We are to resemble what you would expect from Jesus were he to visit you. A dress suit and tie would be appropriate for our times for him. (A brother, by the way)

There is not enough bad things that you can say about the Catholic Church..... But I rather let the history books do my talking about that Cult that calls itself a Church..................................
