after my mother died , we ( me, wife and kids) moved to another state, we took nothing of my mothers with us, it all went to her friends, at our new house after we moved in, i noticed the smell of my moms perfume, i asked my wife if she smelled it and she said yes, it was that distinct smell of that cheap finger hut perfume she used to get

She is just letting you know she is watching over you. It's a good thing. Say hi to her when you smell the perfume and tell her you love her.

commonly with spirit scents ... the smell comes and goes in an instant
it doesnt usually linger like other scents
is this what has been happening or is it a constant ?
if it is constant , it may well be that someone who owned the house previously wore the same

but I know that spirit do bring smells that we recognise , so I wouldnt rule that out
I just like to check other options first

it's cheap enough that improves the possiblity of others buying/using it

geez I hate fingerhut

or you may have been desensitized over the years and stopped smelling it for a while, move your goodies and the smell comes back since you now have heightened smell to it once again

often perfumes are recyled and re labled over the years

I believe fully that she wanted to tell you that she was ok. That no matter where you go, she will be near you and always loves you. I smell my mother's scent often. It is just her way of saying hello and that she is supporting you from the Other Side.

Something (a show, an item, etc.) triggerd a recall of your mothers perfume.

The smell isn't your mother, but makes you think of your mother. Also, it is possible a worldly spirit (not your mom) is blowing a fragrance your way to trick you.

memories lodge in different, sometimes weird parts of the brain. i know sometimes when i'm missing my grandpa, i'll smell pistacios or an old sweater or something that will make me think of him.
