** Are you not putting words into Gods' mouth when saying what "thou shalt not kill" really means? **
Yes, we put words into God' mouth while we truly think and speak them as we wish. Words in books are just words in books, until they are interpreted by humans.
We bend and do violence to such easily manipulated words to make them submit and conform to that which we desire. Kill or murder whether in self defense or otherwise, it all still equals end of life for someone.
Listen to Jesus.
The Bible Luke 19: 27- 28
"But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them, bring them here and kill them in front of me." After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
By right there are no exceptions, there are only excuses.
God does not yield to our reasoning, therefore we can never prove we truly know God' mind.
Have a pleasant day.

It says, "you shall not murder," in the original language in which it was written. Killing in self defense and killing in wartime is not murder. If you read the Old Testament, God goes into great detail about how to address accidental deaths. God can speak for himself. However, who will take the time to listen?

What that means is what it says. Take no life, that you do not need to take in defense of your own. It also means donot kill the spirit of another person by belittling them because of how they look or any other differences between you and those who live around you. If you make fun of someone else at school expect to be punnished for that. it will come back to you just like it came back to the brats at columbine! "God didn't punnish them!" You'll say He didn't have to, it was their own negativity toward their own class mates who did that shooting, that punnished them! I have seen this myself! We create our world not God . THus we cause everything that happens to us.

Every single "holy writing" in every single religion that has every been has put words into "God's" mouth. There is no Word of God, because gods do not speak in words.
