Really depends on where it comes from as far as water. The American Catfish I buy is farm raised and grain fed, so, it have a clean taste compared to a catfish caught from the river. Tilapai seems to always taste clean, it look like a large bream to me. So, if the Basa is farm raised it my taste clean, but, if it just being caught in the wild, then it could be like the river catfish in America. Also, how fresh something is will have an effect on taste. If, it was frozen quickly then it may taste better than something that took 2-3 days before it makes it to the freezer.
