Don't worry, it is not that dumb a question. If you aren't familiar with the word "truffle" there can be some confusion. The actual word means - "a fleshy underground fungus much esteemed as a table delicacy."

A truffle, therefore, is a mushroom, but a chocolate truffle is not a chocolate mushroom. I love chocolate, but that is going a bit too far, even for me.

Actually, I suppose they coined the phrase "chocolate truffle" because it is a delicious treat that is "esteemed as a table delicacy." We have a lot of crazy terms in our language, but there is usually some strange correlation.

Anyway, if you have never tried a chocolate truffle, you've got to give them a go. There are some really yummy and simple recipes at http://www.chocolate-candy-mall.com/chocolate-truffles.html

Have fun and try out a new experience.
