HELP me prove a point! What age can u start to shave or wax?

ohkhay heres how it goes...
i shaved my legs without my mom knowing
she found out and she was MAD
she thinks you can only shave when you 18!!
im only 13 and im not that hairy for an indian
its unfair because all i want is to show how its ohkhay to shave
but my mom says....I am fully aware of what I am doing. You will not understand me now. First and foremost, let me make it very clear to you that
you are not hairy at all. You can check this with anyone of our family members. You do not know what "hairy" means. Yes, I can
say Schnell is hairy. I have seen her growing up. You hair is nothing in comparison to hers.

If you were like Schnell, I too would have given a second thought. Honestly, you do not require to wax or shave now. Don't try to
imitate your friends. You don't need to have shaved arms and legs to be a part of a group. Its your thinking that makes you feel left out.
360 days of the year your legs are covered. You do not wear short skirts .......

.nor do you wear sleeveless .

I am telling you not to shave, not because you will get a cut but because you will get thick and rough hair and it will look ugly. You will see
it yourself. The replies you got to your inappropriate worded query "hairy" is misleading. You may think that mom is living in the past, old fashioned etc etc. Don't forget that we too went to University, worked in office etc. I also waxed my hands and legs, shaped my eyebrows, bleached my face,
grew long nails, painted them etc but at the right age and time. That is why though I am 47 yrs old I look like I am in my thirties. Many of them are astonished to hear that I have 20 year old son and 13 yr old daughter. They say "when you walk with your son, you will look like his sister".

Do you want to look like this or older than your age and haggard. Imagine what will happen if you use harsh touch and chemicals on a young plant.
It will definitely look old and haggard very soon. So are you young lady

Your skin is still tender. Trust me, just enjoy your childhood now. When the time is ripe, I myself will tell you to do these things. As a mom, I have to fulfill my responsibility to guiding you in the right direction.

I'm also indian. Im a hindou indian to be exact, and we tend to get a bit more hair than other people. I'm also 13 too, and I do shave. I think that you can start to shave or wax at what ever age you star to get l little hairy. You should tell your mom that you are turing into a young woman, and you have certain womanly needs, just like she does. That worked with my mom. Well, good luck!

I started shaving when I was about 10. Everyone told me I would regret it and I completely ignored it. I don't think shaving makes people look older, but I completely ignored people telling me I would regret it. It's so much hassle to have to shave my legs all the time.I wasn't that hairy before I started. Now, my leg hairs are very nooticable when I do not shave and I wishI had never started shaving my legs. Hope this kinda helps!

Really there are worse things in life than worrying over shaving hairs im 29 now but my mom always said she didnt shave her legs till she was in her 40s because she didnt have the hairs but i started when i was 14 because i could see them even though i didnt wear short skirts i didnt want hairy legs! plus if you take my advice on the arms and other areas dont shave them bleach them, just do the underarms and legs, also buy a hair minimiser lotion to use in between. alot of dark haired girls need to shave, your mom surely wouldnt want you to not care about your appearence at all

If you wax your hair doesnt not come back thicker or leave you with scars.. if you pluck like your eyebrows the hair will come back thinner. If you contiune to wax your legs it will grow back thinner and less often. I shave but then again I'm more experienced than you. I started when I was 14 personality... I think your Mom is just trying to protect you and she thinks shaving means your growing up to fast.. I say you should give your mom a break. She was probally hurt that you did it behind her back and didnt tell her.

My mom is exactly the same way. There is nothing wrong with shaving and you can do it at any age! On plucking your body hair is bad for you, b/c the hair comes back thicker and leaves scars. Shaving is probably the most effective way of removing body hair Good luck! =)

ok i started shaving at 11 and kinda got in a bit of trouble but now im 13 so i started getting self conscious about my legs at about 12 so i talked to my mom and she then said i could start shaving at about 12

13 is not too young to start shaving or waxing. In fact, it is the appopriate age. It will not affect you later in life. You will still look young. I don't agree with your mother. Sorry.
