This is a common misconception. Mormons have always accepted black people into their community. Even in the early days of the church there were black members of the church. This is part of the reason why Mormons were driven out of Missouri because their population would have made it a abolitionist state which created a lot of political turmoil. It is recorded that at one point Joseph Smith sold his best work horse to help buy back a black man's son. It is true, however, that black men were not able to receive the preisthood until the 60's.

Of course, and the comment about not being allowed to be in positions of authority is false. See, here's what happens - someone says something and someone else takes it as truth without bothering to do any research of their own. Black people can do anything in the LDS faith that anyone else can do. You don't have to be a bigamist, in fact, if you are, you're not going to be a member for long because you will be excommunicated.
Think about this - assuming that you're Christian, and assuming that Christ would want a modern day Christian church to be based as closely on His church as possible, what would the best way be for Satan to draw people away from that truth? By spreading mis-truths.

I accept everyone whether they are a member of the Church or not. Actually, right now, I am working with the sister missionaries to help bring someone who is black into the church right now.

And, I have plenty of friends who are and are not Latter-day Saints.

They excepted blacks into the religion, but they could not have the priesthood until 1978 (this was considered prejudist). After 1978, they still have the Mark of Cain as being black skin in their KJV Bible and Ham's wife being black and the mark of the laminites being dark skin, evne after 1978 and African American's still join the church. i am not sure what the war in heaven story is today concerning the blacks, it has changed so many times.

Well, now they do. The billboards along Interstate 15 throughout Utah have posted "Supporting diversity since 1978", although the picture of the black child at the dinner table appears to be a recent addition.

I'm waiting for the news of the first Black Mayor of Provo.

They do now, but up until the 70s they didn't. Some of their literature says that evil turned people "dark" so now they have found creative ways to turn that around.
