As I'm not a God, it's hard to get inside the mind of one. As an artist, I can say that I create because I want to create something beautiful. Perhaps God was doing the same, perhaps not, but I can only relate it to my own experiences. I'm only human, after all.
My husband, the more pragmatic person (an engineer) would say we are created for a purpose.

The only answer that makes sense to me ............ The Jinnkind and Mankind were created to serve God ...... but here's the twist ...... God wanted to see if a being created by Him, who could not see or witness God would serve Him by believing in His signs alone.
There's the answer ....... except for the Jinnkind and Mankind, everything else in the Universe serves God/Allah without question.

If you are serious, it's a good question.
The answer is: there's no God, no Allah, no other "superior" being, who created anything. But wait for a bunch of copy-and-paste from the Bible and you'll get the "real" answers.

Sister pls read below:
56 I have only created jinns and men that they may serve Me. 5032
57 No sustenance do I require of them nor do I require that they should feed Me 5033
5032 Creation is not for idle sport or play: xxi. 16. Allah has a serious Purpose behind it, which, in our imperfect state, we can only express by saying that each creature is given the chance of development and progress towards the Goal, which is Allah. Allah is the source and centre of all power and all goodness, and our progress depends upon our putting ourselves into accord with His Will. This is His service. It is not of any benefit to Him: see the next two verses: it is for our own benefit.
5033 Sustenance: in both the literal and the figurative sense; so also "Freed Me" at the end of the verse. Allah is independent of all needs. It is therefore absurd to suppose that He should require any Sustenance, and still more absurd to suppose that we can feed Him! The gifts, the Sustenance, the goodness, all come from His sid

You're quite right. There is no NEED. There is only desire.
When you're love, the more stuff you have to love, the better you like it. So...creation. With lots and lots of stuff to love. Including at least 2 species capable of returning that love to the fullest extent possible from finite beings; us and angels. And that's also why we and they have free will. So we may choose to return that love. Love returned without free choice to do so or not is worthless.

Do you see how happy some parents are for their children?
It may be hard to imagine with the world as it is, but actually, God wanted to share his love and the wonderful things in the world with children, his children.
Is that hard to understand?

This came from one of the sermons of the Holy Spirit to us (plural, tape recorded) regarding the reasons why God created us, human beings.
"Why did God create us? Why? Did God create us to hurt His heart? God created us to give Him comfort and consolation. God created us so that He can receive love from us. God created us so that He will have us to cheer Him up. God created us so that He will have us to give Him happiness. God created us so that we will obey His comandments.
"However, we face God in whatever state or condition. We don't give Him importance or respect. We don't care to face Him with a heart full of filth and uncleanness. We don't bother to clean His home. Which does He say is His home in us? It is our heart."
The full text of the sermon is in the website below.
