What did Thomas mean when he said to Jesus, “My Lord and my God”?
On the occasion of Jesus’ appearance to Thomas and the other apostles, which had removed Thomas’ doubts of Jesus’ resurrection, the now-convinced Thomas exclaimed to Jesus: “My Lord and my God! [literally, “The Lord of me and the God (ho The·os′) of me!”].” (Joh 20:24-29)
Some scholars have viewed this expression as an exclamation of astonishment spoken to Jesus but actually directed to God, his Father. However, others claim the original Greek requires that the words be viewed as being directed to Jesus. Even if this is so, the expression “My Lord and my God” would still have to harmonize with the rest of the inspired Scriptures. Since the record shows that Jesus had previously sent his disciples the message, “I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God,” there is no reason for believing that Thomas thought Jesus was the Almighty God. (Joh 20:17)
John himself, after recounting Thomas’ encounter with the resurrected Jesus, says of this and similar accounts: “But these have been written down that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God, and that, because of believing, you may have life by means of his name.”—Joh 20:30, 31.
On various occasions when individuals were visited or addressed by an angelic messenger of Jehovah, the individuals, or at times the Bible writer setting out the account, responded to or spoke of that angelic messenger as though he were Jehovah God. (Compare Ge 16:7-11, 13; 18:1-5, 22-33; 32:24-30; Jg 6:11-15; 13:20-22.)
This was because the angelic messenger was acting for Jehovah as his representative, speaking in his name, perhaps using the first person singular pronoun, and even saying, “I am the true God.” (Ge 31:11-13; Jg 2:1-5)
It is certain that Thomas’ words do not contradict the clear statement he himself had heard Jesus make, namely, “The Father is greater than I am.”—Joh 14:28.

If that text was referred to Jesus “Lord and God” notice the correction done in John 20:30
30 TO BE SURE, Jesus performed many other signs also before the disciples, which are not written down in this scroll. 31 But these have been written down that YOU may believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God, and that, because of believing, YOU may have life by means of his name.
So, Jesus is the Son of God, the Christ.
Jehovah is called “God of gods”. Jesus admitted that his God is the Father. John 20:17 – “‘I am ascending to my Father and YOUR Father and to my God and YOUR God.”
Notice, MY GOD.
Salvation is thorugh Jesus, But the main source is God the Father. Both of them are our saviors. See also Rev 7:10.
Now, question for you. If God is composed of THREE persons, how come when God speaks, he uses the terms “I” , “I am” and “I only”. Are those terms used for more than one person? Please give an example where the term “I am” is for more than one person.

They've got their theology pretty well wrapped up, don't they? They WILL confuse you and turn the Bible upside-down with their apologetics. Enter the JW realm at your own risk.
If those tenets are true about Jesus' being "a god" (NOT what 1 John 1:1 says), then Jesus would have had ample, ample opportunity to correct those who accused him of saying he was co-equal with the Father. I'll leave you with that, but there are lots of apologetic sites out there that refute Jehovah's Witness theology. No, Jesus wasn't Michael the Archangel, either.

Jesus is the son of the Most Holy Father Jehovah. Jesus prayed to his Father in the heaven when he was on earth. when Jesus Christ was baptized, Jehovah came down like a dove and said this is my son the beloved. Jesus is now seating at the right hand of Jehovah God.

Yes, people have pointed out those scriptures, as meaning that Jesus is God, but if you look which I"m sure your willing to, at the many other scriptures that Jesus himself pointed out, that Jesus is the Son of God, that Jehovah is his father, Jehovah sent him to do his will, that God is greater than Jesus, then you will be willing to see exactly what these other scriptures that you point out really mean in reference to Jesus. Hopefully you'll do that. Jesus was a man, he is the son of God, and he is referred to as Michael the arch angel in the scriptures. Look them up. You'll see for yourself. Oh yes, get the brochure from one of Jehovah;'s witness the next time they call at your door called The Trinity. It clears up a lot.

Rev 3:12 “‘The one that conquers—I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will by no means go out [from it] anymore, and I will write upon him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which descends out of heaven from my God, and that new name of mine.
60 years after Jesus was resurrected. Jesus continues to worship God.
60 years after Jesus was resurrected John believes in the God and Father of Jesus.
Rev 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, “the Faithful Witness,” “The firstborn from the dead,” and “The Ruler of the kings of the earth.” To him that loves us and that loosed us from our sins by means of his own blood— 6 and he made us to be a kingdom, priests to his God and Father
If you read the entire 20th chapter of John you will notice that John was writing his book to prove:
John 20:30 To be sure, Jesus performed many other signs also before the disciples, which are not written down in this scroll. 31 But these have been written down that YOU may believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God,
John 20:17 Jesus said to her: “Stop clinging to me. For I have not yet ascended to the Father. But be on your way to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and YOUR Father and to my God and YOUR God.’”
If you try to say Jesus is more than God's only begotten Son, then you've missed the whole reason John wrote his Gospel.
If you say Jesus is more than an image of God, then you are being blinded by Satan.
2 Cor 4:4 among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.
Let us all have the same mental attitude of Christ:
Rom 15:5 Now may the God who supplies endurance and comfort grant YOU to have among yourselves the same mental attitude that Christ Jesus had, 6 that with one accord YOU may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Yes, he is God's son.
When Thomas said this to him you must remember that Jesus had told the apostles "When you have seen me, you have seen the Father". This was not because Jesus IS the Father - but because they are alike in purpose, in thought. Jesus said more than once that the Father is greater than he, that he was not speaking things of his own originality but rather what he had been given by the Father.
Is Jesus "a" god?
Of course - many things are gods.
Jesus is not Almighty God - but it was not inappropriate for Thomas to address him in this manner because of the position that Jehovah had bestowed upon his only begotten son.

1) The Bible identifies Jehovah as the only true God.
(Psalm 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth.
2.) Jesus identifies His Father (Jehovah/God) as being greater than he is.
(John 14:28) YOU heard that I said to YOU, I am going away and I am coming [back] to YOU. If YOU loved me, YOU would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.
3.) Jesus here identifies his father as God. Saying "I am descending to my father and your father and to my god and your God."
(John 20:17) Jesus said to her: “Stop clinging to me. For I have not yet ascended to the Father. But be on your way to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and YOUR Father and to my God and YOUR God.’”

From what I read from previous answerers, Jesus is a God too... but not at the superlative grade like his Father? So, if Jesus is mighty, Jehovah is Almighty; if Jesus is great, Jehovah is the greatest...right? Also, I've heard that even Satan is called 'the God of this world (or system)'...so Satan is also a god...just evil???
