From what I understand "strong" atheists believe in nothing supernatural. So they wouldn't believe in this.

However, "weak" atheists are open to some supernatural stuff, but still no god/gods ..

Buddhism by some definitions do fit in the atheist category, because they do not believe in an all mighty Creator-God theory ..but they definitely would not be a "strong-atheist"... it would be weak ..

However, they're are also very different buddhism sects out there, and some do believe in a creator-god like character, if so. These buddhists wouldn't qualify as atheists at all.. not even agnostic.

In Buddhism, the purpose of karma, is the theory "what goes around, comes around" eventually, this life time or the next...

But, in Buddhism your goal is to never reach a "heaven" and live with a God-Creator or Father character forever for eternity. There is no eternity in Buddhism, it is always cyclical.

The answers here have put you on the right track. Atheists and karma etc. is a mutally exclusive term. Rebirth implies that there is order, a plan in the universe. Atheists believe in chaos, and a big bang that God did not sound.

I believe in rebirth and it means that I also believe in divine design. Because that is what I found the more I researched the issue: there is order in the universe and someone or something put it there.

I do not believe in any of these things. And that includes finding that believers are strange. I can fully understand the desire for some spiritual meaning in one's life and if some people get their answers through their faith, that's fine by me. The only behavior I find strange is when some believers display a total lack of critical thinking and tolerance to other people's choices.

Beg pardon?

I never said I believed in karma or reincarnation and I certainly do not believe in superstition.

I am an atheist and so are my best friends and favorite lovers. I have never known any true atheists who believe in this nonsense you list. One cannot really be an atheist and believe such ****. Where did you get such a weird idea? Guatama the Buddha was agnostic, and karma and reincarnation is in his belief system. you may be mistaking agnostics for atheists. My companions and I know there is no afterlife, so there obviously can be no karma or reincarnation. Superstition should be grouped with belief in gods.

First, ALL religion is superstition. Karma is no more than: Sow as you reap. Reincarnation is not something all atheists believe. In fact I'll go out on a limb and suggest very few believe in it. Anyone believing in invisible beings is delusional, psychotic, sick, and should be treated.

First of all the plural of atheist is atheists, second atheism isn't a doctrine; it just means you don't believe in god, everything else you need to take it on a per case basis. You'll not find two equal atheists.

I don't believe in karma - whatever that is, I'm not at all superstitious, and rebirth is simply your ancestors or family tree. Where are you getting your info on atheists? From the Pulpit?
