Prolonged or heavy drinking either one. It doesn't have to be for 10 years. Liver disease from alcohol can include fatty liver disease, alcoholic hepatitis, alcoholic cirrhosis cirrhosis of the liver can start at any time. Other things can effect the liver and make matters worse. Viral or bacterial infections, toxin poisoning (pesticides and other chemicals), certain medications, nutritional deficiencies (poor nutrition is often a problem for heavy drinkers) all can cause liver disease as well as exacerbate cirrhosis. This doesn't even take into account the other problems heavy drinking cause - family problems, work problems, legal problems. It's just not worth it.

can I die from prolonged for drinking alcohol 10 years?

It depends what you mean by prolonged drinking. If you mean you have a steady diet of 1 or 2 drinks per day for 10 years, well if your fine with it, you will most likely be okay.

Now, if you mean that you drank a steady diet of 1 or 2 bottles of hard liquor, or a case of 24 beer daily.

Well, then most likely you're liver is experiencing some difficulty. But everybody's different. And it is hard to say.

But usually hard living catches up to everyone eventually!

Yes Alcohol-related liver disease (ARLD) is caused by drinking too much alcohol. The more you drink above the recommended limits, the higher your risk of developing ARLD.

If you have been diagnosed with liver disease, you might be feeling afraid and somewhat bewildered and would appreciate more information about all aspects of this condition. What causes it? What are the treatments available? What are the possible diet and lifestyle changes you should make? What advice for a holistic approach to managing – and even reversing it? and i know the website is so good and full information a bout fatty liver at:http://adola.net/go/fattyliver-bible/

C'mon Barry, you already know it's risky behavior, and you're asking us to help you justify it. I am either alcoholic or habitual drinker myself but I haven't had a drink in over a year now because medicines can affect the liver also.

Find an alcohol program TODAY and get there. They treat you like you are a king, and you need the help. Regardless of your situation, you are treated with dignity and respect.

Good Luck.

Yes, you certainly can; but no one can really predict how long before a person's risky behavior catches up with them. It isn't an exact science! Some people are lucky and others aren't.
