I keep coming accross questions that are aimed at a particular audience, ie 'Christians, what do you think...?' 'Muslims, do you believe...?'

Surely the aim of this is to mix with eachother, exchange views & learn something as we go along. I dont just want to hear from people who hold the same beliefs as me. I want to hear from people of all beliefs, regardless. This is where I can learn & grow.

What do you think? And what do you think about questions directed at a particular group?

Also consider these comments before answering ......

The questioner who asked the question about forgiveness, aiming the question specifically at christians, has since added the comment...

'' Farah, I wanted to ask christians because they are the people I most respect.''

The questioner who asked a question directed at muslims, has since added the comment...

''Farah, I said that because I already know what most non-muslims would say.''

Without knowing it, they are actually making my point for me......

Farah, this is a good question! Yes, we are supposed to learn from each other. My guess is that questions aimed at a particular group may be for clarification of something peculiar to that group. (In reality, however, it may be used for ridicule, which is sad.) Keep up your good attitude and desire for learning, and you'll go far!

I agree about the part of learning and exchanging, I have nothing about the questions aiming to a certain groups, specially if it`s someone who wants more information about a certain belief. What I don`t like though about the question directed toward the Christians is that Christianity includes many many religions with 1 common denominator ....Jesus. A lot of people believer we`re all the same, not true. Some of us are tolerant and moderate and others are fundamentalist and even prejudiced.

I agree. It would be really nice if people are respectful of each other and say how they feel and say there beliefs without attacking others. Many people do just that however it only takes a few people to attempt to rock the boat which can be frustrating at times. The bottom line though is you can learn something from everyone, in some cases you learn something new, refreshing and challenging that can help you grow. In other cases you may learn or be reinforced with ways and behaviors that you do not want to emulate.
Hopefully all people will learn something, hopefully they are here to ask, answer and learn in an open way.

May peace be with us all.

I think question directed at a particular group are questions where the asker wants to know what certain people believe about a subject.

As to "the aim of this is to mix with eachother, exchange views & learn something as we go along" that may be your aim. My aim is to tell people the truth about God and sin and Jesus Christ.

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been carried out in God."

Yes, we ARE all here to interact and get a better understanding of each other and each other's beliefs. That's why it is perfectly acceptable to direct questions at specific groups of people. If I want to discover something about Catholicism, who best to ask than the Catholics themselves? This does not mean, however, that anyone isnt free to answer any question.

I agree. If I just wanted to confer with other Native Americans I would Email a friend or a tribal member. I come here to learn and maybe educate.
I think those that direct questions to others in their own religion are doing so to confirm or support what they already believe.

As a Muslim we believe in Jesus and other prophets. There is no place in a religion for haters. Society must learn and grow. There is lack of tolerance and any question directed to other groups some times may not be feasible.

I think that questions directed at a target group can be an effort to learn (though usually just to attack, sadly). For example, a Christian might not know what Muslims think about a certain issue so ask them.

Yes, good point. That isn't everyone's motive and obviously you can see that. But if you make it yours, you'll get something out of this.

My advice is to not allow yourself to follow the stream here. I got curious about someone after hearing her name come up to often in negative ways. What I found was interesting. She started out, seemingly curious but after hostile responses to what actually didn't call for those responses in the first place (IMO), just started fighting back and antagonizing others into even more of the same.

So, stay on target....thats all you can do.

We are here for the Entertainment Value in Heaven where part of ourselves is and from whence that part of us that is here came from and returns to after this life. We are one collective Creator and Created. Sometimes we appear to learn in the predestined reality. The illusion of Life is grand! I am a Forgive Affirmed Spirit and a supporter of civilized caring and healing within humanity.
