Recognize within yourself that this person is responding to "their own happenings in their own world" They are unable to respond to the real world at this point. So, play along with what the person is thinking and feeling, as if it were true, but as they respond to you, gradually talk your way back to reality. If you can get the person to interact with their 5 senses (or atleast some of them) - taste, touch hearing, sight ..... this will help to "ground" the person. Talk the person into a "truse" that you will not harm him, and he will not harm you, and get them back to sleep.

I got 'em. Started about two years ago, so I sleep by myself. My dog sleeps with me but on top of the covers. When I kick or thrust my arms out, the worst that can happen is she gets shoved off the bed. About a month ago, I kicked out and hit the wall. The toenail is coming off, just to indicate how vigorous some moves are.

Doan no, but there may be some medication to help. Mine are the result to nightmares and they wake me even if the physical reaction is not strong. A few have to do with someting vague (not combat) about service, but most are associated with dreams about a breakin or a threat to my wife or children. I cry out with these. Wakes everyone in the house.

Guess I'll live with it.
