True. I notice that the christian responses here confuse history, make up stories, and then, surprise, come up with the opposite conclusion. If only they had learned to think at school. Perhaps they should blame their inability to think on that very reason.

Yeah they had to add Under God to the pledge, and In God We Trust to the money to make sure everyone knew we were a "Christian" society. Wonder how many of those folks who want to go back to the "good old days" realize that these are the same people who fought Blacks going to their schools that did all the religious BS like the pledge. Maybe that's when the schools fell apart? No we won't go there, not today anyway.

The bill to introduce the phrase 'under god' was put out by Rep. Charles Oakman (R-Mich) on 8 February 1954. On Flag Day, 14 June 1954, the bill was approved through both houses of Congress and Eisenhower signed it into law.

you darned button pusher you. I think it was in 1951. Our fight against the cold war.
But it wasn't the word "God" that screwed up the school system. It was my uncle Frank. He infiltrated the school system and brought up the idea of CHOCOLATE MILK. Darkie Milk. Damn. That was the down fall. These kids started drinking this milk and acting like a bunch of A%% CLOWNS. Going crazy. Carrying Buck Knives and the like. And then my uncle Frank brought up the idea of "J DAY." If your ethnicity started with a J then you get an automatic A for the day...no questions asked. You can only imagine. The Jews and the Japanese were scoring points right and left. Poor dumb white kids just sat there in awe. Utter Awe I tell you. And then...of course...He invented that damned time machine and brought back several warriors from planet of the APES. Rode horses through schools and choas only followed. Beware of the Beast called Man. You blame this on God. You poor naive crazy ba6sta9d. I cannot believe you.
Got any darkie milk?
(IF anyone reading this was offended by the words "darkie milk" please step back and think just how truly absurd those words sound together. I am not a racist. I am just plain old certifiably nuts. So buck up campers. We are in for one helluva storm.)
1951 I think.

Eisenhower's reign saw "under God' added to the Pledge in 1954 and "In God We Trust" added to all our money in 1956. It is contrary to the First Amendment to do such things, because a state religion is forbidden. God is the name of the English Christian deity. We need to take "God" out of the Pledge and off our money as Thomas Jefferson would want...for several reasons.

Hate to tell you this but most schools do not even say the Pledge of Allegiance. Many have never learned it. It was discontinued due to religious issues. But I believe the problem with schools started when many parents started letting everyone else including government parent their kids. Too many people think parenting is just feeding, clothing, and letting them do what they want. Keeping them happy. It is so much more such as boundaries, teaching, tough love even.

Havent we gone uphill when we decided to base our laws on the Bible?
Dont you see that the US is very blessed by God?
Here are some examples to prove my point:
Dont say we won the revolutionary war by mere resiliency, surely there must have been some divine intervention into it. To think that untrained and underfed militia and peasants won a war against a Great Britain, who was a world power at that time, well trained and well-fed.
The emergence of China as a world power. Shouldnt we be thankful that they havent invaded us yet? They know they have the power to Invade and successfully subdue the US, But do you ever wonder about whats stopping them?
Do you ever wonder about what wouldve happened if Soviet plans for its missiles in Cuba had been launched to the US? Its not like the Soviet leaders just decided not to go on with their plans, after spending hundreds of millions of dollars in transporting, building, and putting manpower to power the missiles in Cuba.
So dont assume that putting God in the "Pledge" had anything to do with the actions of people, for god gave us free will to do anything as we pleased.

The Pledge of Alligiance is one small reason. Taking this out of schools, and denying God, is only a tiny percent of why bad things happen in schools. The rest is at home with the parents not teaching their kids right from wrong..........have no discipline.
The other part is what is on TV and what these kids are putting through their mind.
Most kids have to be by themselves after school and they have no one to be with them other than the friends they brought home with them after school. They get into trouble. And parents are blind sighted and don't realize the trouble their kids are getting into when their not around, until it is too late.
