I am really keen to know how can i design my own fonts. Which programming language or software should i use to do that? i need tutorials, software and forum links. any help is highly appreciated

I tried using an application called TypeTool from FontLab (link below) to work with True Type Fonts (works with other types too) before. I needed to make a TTF of symbols but never found it to be very easy to work with. Maybe a newer version simplifies things. The version I worked with would have been from about 8 years ago.
