I have already spent so much on my dog and I don't think anyone has a clue to what's wrong with him. He started out scratching his eyes. Then he started throwing up food he just ate and clear frothy phlem. No fever, no diarrhea. He is also hoarse. He became lethargic and I took him to the vet. They said he had a virus due to decreased WBC count, and x-ray showed pneumonia. He was put on antibiotics and a NSAID. After eating yesterday he began to limp and he couldn't jump on or off the couch. He has a look of panic on his face. He's vomiting again. This a.m. I took him outside. He wanted to run and play, but suddenly his legs wouldn't hold him up and he kept falling on his face- some sort of partial paralysis. These 'episodes' are happening after eating and exercise, then seem to go away. I'm thinking maybe myasthenia gravis after doing internet research. Any ideas? I'm taking him back to the vet today.

I did remove a young tick from his nose within a week of him getting sick.

Took him to the vet and they are still clueless. Said it could be congenital. I told them 3 times he had a tick attached and removed ~ 1 week before getting sick, so they're doing a Rmsf/Ehrlichia blood test. They acted like it was no big deal. I would have taken him somewhere else, but there isn't anyone else opened.

to be honest, it could be lots of things - no one is going to try and diagnose here.
your vet did the right thing.
pneumonia is an inflammation (or infection) of the lungs - its a condition that actually has around 34 different *known* causes. While it can be caught on its own, in general, if you have a pre-existing condition, it is easier to catch because the other condition weakens the body, allowing the pneumonia bugs to set in.

In short, this sounds like this is the case here - the dog has something else that has allowed the pneumonia to develop.

so the pneumonia diagnosis wasnt incorrect and your vet did the right thing.... but.... now youve realised the pneumonia isnt the only problem and while the pneumonia needs to be treated, it doesnt fix the underlying problem - you do need to take him back to the vet.

when you do, voice your concerns (including *acquired* myasthenia gravis) and make sure the vet explains exactly what they are thinking, what they are testing for and how they are going to treat it - if they dont, ASK them to.
sorry I cant tell you much more than that - theres a few tests he needs and he could have several things.

if you are unhappy with your vet and what he is (or isnt) doing to help, take your dog to another vet - I would.
unfortunately, dogs cant tell us where it hurts or what it feels like, so a diagnosis generally takes a little longer and is often a process of elimination.

lol - VERY unlikely to be the food.

Perhaps it's the food your feeding your dog. Could he have a allergy to one of the ingredient in the food?
Maybe Lyme's disease? Could be so many things.
It's the right thing to do to take him back to the vets, this may be a process of elimination of this to find out exactly whats going one.
NOTE: If you have found a tick on your dog and removed it then that should be told to your vet. Lyme's can be a real possibility! A blood test for the Lymes is a simple one and may answer your questions.
I wish your luck.

good luck and i hope your dog will be ok and i'm sure they'll find a way to help your dog

I don't know if you live in a tick area or not, but if so has he been tested for tick borne diseases? If not he should be.
