To the first one; as people have stated. This is a condition of being molded into a certain meme at a young age, or at a vulnerable state where you actually think this way due to circumstances and are trying to find a way out.
Biblical times? They certainly didn't have a strong grasp on the human pyschi did they? The fact that it is still here is appalling.
How do I see people?
Although, there is potential; it is a mistake to fall in love with people's potential. We all have even greater abilities than we presently use, I see it as a road that we use our lifetime to build on. I admire the people who do the work. They are easy to spot. I don't care what level they are at, in that work; but the fact that they have even the romotest idea that they have gifts to explore is great cause for celebration.
30 years, Pangel; That is what I wasted thinking I was in rags. I'm almost single-minded now in digging in to get the work done. Happiness is in the work for me.
Now, in the end; I will passed onto the world, my children; who have never been in rags. Who have been raised to respect themselves, others and their environment. Who are fully aware that people believe all sorts of things but the bottom line, that it's not about belief; sooner or later it all has to go by the wayside if you expect to move forward. Do you hold ideals, or do they hold you?
So, I teach them as I learn. It's pretty amazing for me to watch the affect of not being raised in self-condemnation. I'm so proud of them. And happy for them. What it's done for me, is basically put me on a faster track. Yes, I'm trying to catch up with my children.
IT makes me sad, to be honest to know that people have been stopped in their tracks by bad self-talk. Promoting power outside of the person. There life is being wasted. Because the rags are not necessary. In fact, it just becomes about the rags, and it's not a high marker is it?

That depends on if you are a Humanist or a Misanthropist. Most Christians view human beings as worthless dirt without Jesus. Some other religions, such as certain sects of Islam, have similar views. Many other religions, however, see the beauty, goodness, dignity, and even divinity in all people. Hindus believe that the soul is a piece of God. Wiccans and other Pagans have similar views.
Personally I feel that we are divine, and deserving of the freedom to pursue our individual Wills. I feel that the belief that human beings deserve Hellfire for not being (insert religion here) is responsible for much of the suffering in the world.

Life is always amazing, whether it is animal, plant or artificial, and is something that cannot be given a price tag. The very virtue of being alive gives us something that is of infinite importance, and to say that that is an unworthy gift or offering is to trivialise it in a way that falls so far wrong of the truth as to be totally ridiculous.
I think, however, that while it is beyond all value, it also carries with it a great cost. Anything we gain in life comes at the sacrifice of something else, and in order to make the most of it we need to learn to engage with the world around us to agree where we can grow and where we must yield. And it's true that we often disregard the value of those around us in favour of our own importance.
We're all infinitely valuable. As a result, we need to learn how to temper our own power in respect of both ourselves and others.

We are all mirrors.
If there wasn't a part of me that was a 'filthy rag' then I wouldnt be able to see that in another person. If there wasn't a part of me that was 'amazing, with great potential' then I wouldnt be able to see that in another person either.
Each of us is everything. That's why we can learn so much from so many.
If someone is pressing your buttons in some way, because of either a positive or negative trait, just remind yourself that they are simply pointing out that trait in you. This is how we grow.

Humans are amazing creatures, very intelligent & spiritual ones. And it's great that we have flaws, perfection is boring I used to have negative thoughts about my very existence. But I became more open-minded & optimistic. I'm here because I'm meant to be a part of this world, and to try to make a difference. I'm here to experience the joys & miseries of this life, to know people, love some and dislike some. To experience what's beyond my life and understand the truth about everything. That's how I see people & life.

Jesus said we are gods, Krishna said we're not gods. Maybe they're both right. Our potential is beyond comprehension. I think we are amazing people, deserving of happiness, but we don't always act as we could. People see things according to their experience. I have experienced the wonderfulness of human nature, maybe some people don't realise they have. Many of us act in a selfish, unconscious way, far from our potential.
Some guru said that we're like princes and princesses who have got lost and forgotten who we are. When we realise who we are, the inheritance waiting for us is beyond material wealth.
We are learning how to let go of the ego that's keeping us from the happiness we deserve. When we learn to see ourselves as we truly are and love ourselves, then we can truly love others.
Peace, love and vegetable rights.

Lol, people see things differently because of the way their minds absorb things, and from what they've experienced and surround themselves with.
I see people and animals as unique individuals, and I love nature. I have a very positive view.
We're unique because we're all different and life's more exciting that way. It's more adventurous, let's say. :) It's also interesting how people create their reasonings.

People see things differently because of their past experiences with other people which taint their perception.
I see the good in people. I always look for the good ... I know in some people it's buried beneath a lot of other motivators and intentions which are sometimes negative but in my heart I know that people are basically good.
Bright Blessings!

as spiritual as I am, I also believe in the very scientific law of opposites, and your question has highlighted the very essence of that. Somewhere along the line the 'self' became viewed as selfish and many folk see being confident as conceit or a threat, often as they lack the very faith that makes the other shine which is faith in themselves.
The opposite of being spiritually sound and happy with yourself is a confused unhappy one. People find it hard to be happy for others if they envy them.

If God made us in his image, then we are not filthy rags.
that's the way I see it.
I think many people have low self esteem, which may not be their fault, but this can show in constantly putting themselves down, and quite possibly other people.
