I am 13 years old and for the last 3-4 months i have been having neck pains. They usually start in the evening in the lower parts of my neck but sometimes they occur in the day also. When i am in bed my neck pain is at its worst. I can hardly turn onto my side because when i do the other side starts to ache and i have to turn back again. Eg. the lower ride side of my neck aches, i turn onto my right side, then the left side aches causing me to turn back. So at night all i am doing is tossing and turning and as a result of this i am losing a lot of sleep.

When i am on right side i have to put my left shoulder up to prevent the left side of my neck aching and vise versa.

My GP has referred me to the Paedeatrician (sorry if i spelled that wrong). She also suggested to me to go to the optician to have see if i need glasses and i went but the optician said my eyes were fine.

I am going on holiday in July and I do not want the pains to occur there. Someone please help me!

Your spine could be out of alignment and cause pressure and pain to the neck. Do you have scoliosis?

Use heat compresses and ice packs every two hours before bedtime. Buy a neck contour pillow which takes pressure off the neck when you sleep.

A massage therapist can help loosen the muscles and lessen the pain in the neck.

There's no connection between eye problems and the aches in the neck.

You poor thing, there's nothing worse than neck pain. I know because I see my mom suffering from it every day. I'm no doctor but here's what has helped her.

Get a microwavable neck wrap to help sooth your muscles like the one found on Amazon.

Also, my mom has found a lot of relief using a neck traction for 10-15 a day. It takes the pressure of your muscles and spin and allows for relief.

Finally, use good posture when using the computer and reading, etc. When you don't sit correctly, you can really harm your neck over and over.

My final piece of advice is to work really closely with your doctors to find the root cause and future treatment.

has your chiropractor or md taken xrays or done and mri? You could have arthritis in your neck like I do. I also have herniated discs in my neck so I visit my chiropracter every 6-8 weeks to keep in line, but I do not recommend surgery unless it is a very last resort. Your sleep position can play a factor too, I sleep on a special pillow and no longer sleep on my tummy like I did for years.

Lollipop is correct, it is time to see your family Chiropractor. Sadly, your GP and/or pediatrician should have referred you to one, but they did not. I would hope if you were having dental pain, they would refer you to a dentist.

ok, first of all. try to backtrace to find out when how and what is causing that. meds will just block the pain and u dont want that. it sound like muscle tension involving upper extremities and dorsal area. learn about upper body stretching exercises and muscle weight training.

A good kind of doctor you should see is a chiropracter. They are masters at figuring out exactly which muscle is bugging you, and they will massage it out. Chances are, that their is too much muscle tension in your neck and upper back.
