without knowing what the gift was, i will have to answer generally. If is was just a small token gift, keep it. If it was something a bit more expensive, and you feel he gave it to you as a romantic gesture, and you are not interested, you should have told him on the spot you could not accept it. Not having done this, you should simply give it back saying you are not interested romantically and cannot keep such a gift.

Yes it is rude to return a gift, by the rules of etiquette anyway.
I might add that the only time this is acceptable is if they are wedding gifts for a wedding that has been called off, if an engagement has been broken by fault of the bride-to-be, she should return the ring, there are some other instances, but such is not. You may consider expressing your concerns to him instead of returning the gift.

If this is a man who gave you a gift as a romantic expression, then you are absolutely obligated to return the gift to him if you are not interested in him. If he gives you something expensive and you keep it, you are giving him (and everyone else) the wrong idea about your relationship.
In all other instances, it is extremely rude to return a gift but this is the exception.

Giving back a gift is not a nice thing to do especially If your just trying to show him that your not interested. You shouldn't have accepted it in the 1st place if you didn't like him. Giving a gift back is really like throwing it back in his face.
find another way of telling him that your not interested in a relationship without being rude.

It will all depend on the source and the spirit in which the gift is being given. For example if I have a friend and he break into somebody's house and stole money and I know fully well that that is the source of the money he is giving me, I will have to return his money.

Yes, I think it is rude. Even if he wasn't sincere he did get you something, which shows an infinate amount more thought than getting you nothing at all. If it really bothers you so, try bringing it up with him the next time you two talk.

Are you speaking approximately something like KY jelly, which has in basic terms one known use? if your mom gave you an entire field, it relatively is a strange ingredient for her to do. in case you bypass it directly to a number of your persons, your mom is going to think of you used up a pair of years nicely worth of gel in a month or so, and then she's relatively going to be thinking approximately you. This appears like something you need to seek advice from her - tell her that if and once you desire gel, you may pick to purchase your man or woman. Thank her for her form ideas, yet be very business enterprise approximately it.

I never return a gift unless I need to exhange the size or color. It's rude no matter how much you dislike the giver. Find another way to avoid that person.

Yes it is. You may have your feelings about it and you have the right to do so but he also has feelings. Perhaps he was sincere perhaps not - you can't know for sure. Put it in a cupboard and forget about it.
