Or should I opt to have the amount charged in dollars to my visa and then let my credit card company do the conversion?

Be careful, when they do the conversion they do not use the same exchange rate as Banks and Bureau de Change...it is usually a lot less....so I would have it in dollars and hope the Credit card company's rate is more favourable.

The onboard account will automaticaly be shown in $s and the amount debited from your Credit Card. You dont have a choice in this RCI clearly states that they only accept $s.The rate on cards is usually good. But the rate to change onboard along with all other ships is not as good as you will get at home. You may settle the Account by cash onboard if you wish and if tendering £s the exchange rates will apply. This method is untidy and I dont advise. You may decide to take currency on board (to use in the ports of call) this can be placed in the Cabin safe. But you dont say where the cruise is going Carribean or Med?.Either way dont worry you have chosen the worlds best Company they will look after you in immpeccable fashion.I should know having travelled with them in excess of 45 times since 1975.have a wonderful time.
