My friend is from Newfoundland and says that all Europeans do this...well my husband is Italian and they kiss on both cheeks not on the lips. She kisses her mom and dad on their lips and also friends who are from the same place as where she is from also kisses on the lips to greet each other male or female.By the way she is not a child she is in her mid 30's . I kiss on the cheek myself but would not think kissing my parents or greeting family friends by a big kiss on the lips ...no I don't mean a peck kiss either .Is this cultural ?

kissing your little daughter on the lips is by the way different not like being 30 or 40 and kissing your dad and any male stranger on the lips

WOW..I never heard of such a thing. This is definitely peculiar. Kissing your parents and some of your friends on the lips? WOW..I researched and everything but I couldn't find anything, so I'm not sure whether it is cultural, but I am sure that it is weird. A star for you! :)

From the US, of Polish decent, and we kiss family on the lips. It is a cultural thing I guess. It is just a peck, a quick little peck.

I'm an Aussie and I kiss my daughter on the lips.
I used to kiss my parents on the lips, but as I've gotten older, it's on the cheeks.
It's ok to kiss your closest friends on (or close to) the lips.
Relax and enjoy the greetings.
