The kitties are now 4 weeks and the past several day mum is spending more & more time away from her nest whilst they play & frolic. The 5 babies are all healthy, happy & are very friendly but does this mean its time to start weaning?
They are still in a huge box in my bedroom....do I put a litter tray in too? Are they big enough to come out of the box and explore my bedroom?
As they have been enclosed mum has no idea yet how to 'carry' them so Im not sure whether they should explore the jungle that is my bedroom?
Help please re weaning & toileting these little bundles of joy
Many Thanks

Well, you could start by making sure your room is clean. "Kitty-proof" your room, so to speak. Make sure there aren't any wires for them to chew on, etc. They're getting to the age where they need to be able to explore. They are -not- ready to start weaning so do -not- separate them from their mother. Weaning typically occurs around 7 weeks of age; the mother knows best, she will start pushing them away when it's time.

Also, unless you want to teach the kittens how to use a litterbox themselves, put a litterbox that they and their mother can use. They will learn simply from observing their mother using it.

6 weeks is normal time to stop weaning. If their eyes are now open you can start litter box training. just set the kitten in box after eating and nature should do the rest. be consistent

well if you were going to let them out of the box you can always sit with them and watch them and ya i think yoou should let them explore and maybe get them a smaller litter box
